MEP-803A genset no crank

Very strange that it won't come out nor slide down as Guy suggested.
Keep at it, the aluminum tube does adjust within the black mounting collar.
If oil doesn't help try lightly tapping on the black tube, then try tapping down on the aluminum center tube, careful for the wires.
Once you get it out, be careful to orient it correctly when you reinstall so the floats don't rub on the side of the tank.

I have pried with two pair of plyers pushed and tugged and oiled down and cannot find a possible way but I will keep trying. I just want a new aux float and main sending unit in it before going back together with it.
Where is the best place to get the 2 parts?
Fuel pump filters as well.


Have you looked up the NSN's and part numbers and put them in your search engine?

Idk what NSN is but I have tried searching by "mep 803a fuel sender" and "mep 803a auxiliary float".
Most places are out of stock or very high.

NSN is the National Stock Number, or basically the US government part number. It is the best way to guarantee the correct part. For example, find out what you get when you google this one: 7310-01-452-8137. In the 24P TM for this genset, you can find the exploded diagrams, identify the part by number from the diagram, and then see all of the info listed (sometimes even the civilian or manufactures part number as well as the NSN).

Some TM's have the NSN listed there on the page you posted in the above post. Some don't. When the NSN is not listed in the information, turn to the back of the TM. Go to CROSS REFERENCE INDEXES, NATIONAL STOCK NUMBER INDEX. Then go to SECTION IV. Section IV lists all the part numbers. and crosses over to an NSN, IF THERE IS ONE. There is not always a NSN. Why? Because the Military can not stock EVERY part, to every system that is in the Military inventory. Below is what you posted.

The red numbers are the PART Numbers for the parts you want. When you find then in Section IV, the NSN's are listed to the right. This is one example of what the Section IV would look like.

Purple is your FSCM. That's a code telling you who supplies the part to the military.
Red is your part number.
Yellow is the NSN.
Green is the Figure number and Item number.

I know its a PITA, but reading the instructions in the front of the TM will explain all this and lots more. Try looking up your two numbers now. What you see in the TM will not look just like what I posted here. BUT CLOSE. Try it a few times, and you will find it not hard at all.

The Start relay is NOT in the row of relays behind the gauge panel.
These are the relays and functions of the relays in that row.

The START relay K2 is located in the AC compartment which is behind the wall where the relays above are located.
You need to take the roof panel off to get to it.

I am having the same problem but have not pulled mine apart yet. this helped a bunch. funny thing it ran about 3 weeks ago without any problem but the unit has sat for years before that. are they easy to clean or better to replace?
