Ok, I've been without a truck for a week and 1/2, and now the mechanic says the kit to fix my 10 bolt rear will cost $700, before labor to install it...which is retarded. I'm not a happy camper right now. What would you guys do if you had no car and were at the mercy of a mechanic? I could get...
No dents that I know of...I'll have to check the sending unit 'cause this is royally confusing now...perhaps someone changed my tank somewhere along the way.
I'm not sure how big they are, at least 33"...they came with the truck, looks like whoever had it before me did a half-assed job of putting bigger tires/wheels on and a 4" lift, but no upgrade to the front or rear...eek.
I need it to get to work and back, so it sees mostly highway, the plan right now is to fix the 10 bolt, (if possible) and put smaller tires/wheels on it. I'd upgrade the rear if it wouldn't cost any more to do so, but I have a feeling it will.
RE: Re: RE: Just blew the rear in my
I'm not sure how bad the damage is yet, they are still tearing it apart to see...hopefully I won't need the whole thing *crunch*
Apparently the tires were too big for the little rear. Spyder gears are trashed, and I wasn't even off-roading it, anyone know a good cheap parts place?
Re: RE: Anyone ever added a 2nd fuel tank?
I'm lucky enough to have found a local biodiesel pump run by a small local company, it's about $0.40- $0.50 less per gallon than diesel and there's no shutoff amount. It just sucks if you get low on fuel on a Sunday or during hours when they are...
Hummm...I actually need a separate fuel tank, it's for a WVO conversion...although a 40gal tank would be bitchin'...with an additional 20gal tank I could really get around without having to refuel.
I want to add a 2nd original 20 gallon fuel tank to my '86 m1009, but can't figure out an ideal location where it might fit. I'd like to stash it underneath the truck with the first original tank if there's room since I want to keep alot of space in the back cargo area. Anyone done this before...
My M1009 came with a 4" lift and aluminum rims that are definitely not stock, I
recently had a mechanic tell me that my tires are about to come off because the lug nuts aren't all the same (one already fell off) and the center hole in the rim is too big for the truck (there's about a 1/4" space...
2+ weeks and several hundred dollars later and I have my truck back and running, (with a manual button for the glow plugs). Turns out the last jackass who owned it previously royally screwed up the wiring and it was feeding back...I think the mechanic's words were along the lines of "just...
They think it's an electrical problem so far, (or several)...probably the same reason my taillights have blown out 3 times. yay! I have no idea if the previous owner or owners ever messed with the wiring.
RE: m1009 Glow Plug wait light won
Will do, he's had a few military vehicles so that might help...I'll need Wellman G070's for replacement plugs, (are these the no swell?) and probably a Borg Warner S55 relay right? something along those lines? I really hope the plugs aren't swelled up and...
RE: m1009 Glow Plug wait light won
eh, it's being towed to the local diesel guy...I don't have a garage or tools to work on it, (I change my own oil, etc but that's about it). Now I have the fun of finding the parts and hoping they can get the plugs out without any issues.
Hi, I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst here...I have a 1986 m1009 and yesterday the "wait" light wouldn't go off...even after a few minutes. The gen 1 + 2 lights stayed on also. When I tried starting it, I was met with the temp light and it would crank and blow smoke, but not start...
