MEP-804B wont start without Starting spray

I believe it specifically says in the book not to use ether. Robert

Generator purchase assistance needed SouthEast 10kW

You aren’t going to ‘steal’ one from an auction these days unless you are very, very lucky. Even then, these are rarely plug and play. I think you would do better to buy a checked out unit from someone here and may even get some sort of warranty and it will be ready to go. Robert

MEP 003A, CB2 DC Circuit Breaker Trip

Not trying to insult your intelligence, but the EMI filter is to stop interference on radios, nothing to do with fuel. You can cut them out since they are usually superfluous. Sometimes they cause problems. Your answer to me seemed to indicate you misunderstood what he was trying to say...

MEP 802A No start. very little fuel through pump.

My MEP 002a shakes a great deal more than my 003a. Kind of apples to oranges but I think it is more the two cylinder vs four cylinder effect. Both of my 804s run right at 180 degrees. Robert

    mep 804 b starting

That sounds just like my 804a when I first tried to get it going. On mine which only had about 47 hours at that time, I just kept tapping on things until it started to work. Maybe remove and reseat the relays also. Open the main panel and check for any loose wires. You also want to read up...

    Zexel fuel plunger stuck?

If the thing you are talking about sticks out of the injector pump on the left towards the oil filter, I think it works to shut off the fuel when the switch is turned off but I believe it also gets input from the mpu somehow. Robert

    Zexel fuel plunger stuck?

Unscrew the top of the manual fuel pump and pump until it gets to the injectors. Mine got where it would lose the prime every so often for no apparent reason. I eventually bought a new primer pump from ebay. Make sure to screw the top back tight after primimg. You should see white puffs...

MEP-804A - intermittent cranking, no starting

It may not have worked with all of that junk stuck to the magnet. As was suggested, clean it, reinstall and see what you get. If the voltage checks out, give it a try. You will definitely need the heat today. If it is bled and working, you should start to see white or black puffs from the...

MEP-804A - intermittent cranking, no starting

Ray, after you get it to crank consistently search for this thread about my 804a— 804a cranks but no start, suspect the solenoid on side of the injector pump. I was never able to change the title to say what it really talks about, the MPU. Robert

    First start up of MEP-003

Also when it comes time to actually get it running, these start different than any other engines in my experience. You need to hold the switch in start even after it is running for at least 15 seconds. On my 003, I have to hold it at least 20” after start. It will not hurt anything if things...

Mep-803a motor locking up at 0 and 180deg

I am pretty sure Guyfang means the dead crank switch inside the engine door on one side. When you finish, make sure and put it back to normal (or whatever means normal so that you can cank it from the control panel). Download the books and read about the starting sequence. These MEP...

    Actual Rating for MEP-804B

I have both a 804a and 804b only used as three phase. As stated above, the a model has an Isuzu while the b model has a turbo Yanmar. The a model had around 47 hours when purchased and the b model had around 400. I believe both meters were accurate. I have now put around 100 hours on the a...

How are you planning to secure it when you are not present? Robert

    MEP 804b MPU source?

On my two 804’s if no smoke during crank, so far it has almost always been the MPU. On the A model, it has no fuel pump and it would lose the prime from time to time. Replaced the manual fuel pump doohickey and that part has been fine since, now the water pump is making bad noises with only...

    Mep 006A no start

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you plan to power with this 60 kw generator? You may want to read up on wet stacking. Robert

    MEP 804b MPU source?

If you mean the magnetic pickup, I bought mine from ebay. Search MSP6729 3/8”x24 around $20. Robert

MEP 805B No voltage at load output terminal board

Wondering what your plans for this honking big three phase only generator are. Robert

Too good to be true MEP-002A?

These type of generators require you to hold the start switch engaged much longer than anything else in your life. Once it starts, continue to hold the switch in start until the generator head gets energized and the oil pressure comes up. I have a 003a that requires me to hold it for around...

    MEP-806A Quad fuse blows

It might be a good idea to drop the control panel and with the set off, touch every connection you can find to make sure all are tight. Also, ensure you are grounded well and I am pretty sure if you are powering a building, unbond the ground and neutral. Are you powering three phase equipment...

    MEP 804A lots of issues.

I have a A and B model myself. I am not positive but I almost believe these can run at 50 or 60 hz. Drop the control panel down with the set off and see if there is a switch for the hertz back there. Wondering what you are planning to use these for since they are three phase only. Robert
