Vacuum valve 'adapter' - What does it do?

Yup, there are some diameter differences for the hoses and you may need to use a step up or step down fitting (depending on which hose you are working). I don't have that plug on mine and I am currently in the process of replacing all of the vacuum hoses and have run into size differences at...

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

RGR. I am going to experiment with the regulator, starting in the middle of the adjustment and working from there. It will still be a few more weeks before I can get to it.

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

Actually, no vibrations at all when traveling 65 to 70 and even at the occasional 75mph. When I first got the truck, she wanted to wander quite a bit when on the highway. I replaced the drag link and now she goes where pointed, for the most part. When everything is functioning correctly, I...

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

RGR that Skinny. If you modify a few things, I agree you can run a higher speed with minimized concerns. I was just talking about a stock truck. I have done 75 (in short bursts) with my 09, but she is stock all the way. Precise road handling is just not there. I have to pay a lot more...

Light Bulb Numbers List for CUCV's

Thanks Rick, I didn't know that. If I go LED in the dash, does it make a difference with the bulb type? I have found the 168 LED, but haven't looked for the 194 replacement ..... yet.

Light Bulb Numbers List for CUCV's

Working to take apart the dash today. Are the turn signal indicator bulbs also 168's?

Light Bulb Numbers List for CUCV's

Thanks ADF. I did swap out my flasher module for an LED compatible a little while ago. Mine original failed, so that piece seemed a no brainer.

Light Bulb Numbers List for CUCV's

Thanks. I guess I am searching for additional information. 1. What bulbs cannot be converted to LED. Not sure, but I believe those are limited to the GEN 1 & 2 bulbs, which need to remain 168 incandescent, correct ? 2. According to some of the charts I am seeing, the remaining dash lights...

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

I understand the differences in the models. However, my point was how safe will the vehicle be ,traveling at over 75mph? With antiquated brakes, steering and suspension, I am guessing, IMHO, not very safe at all. But hey, the OP can do whatever he wants.

Light Bulb Numbers List for CUCV's

I know I thought it was sort of a dumb question, but I was still hoping for a response. Still look for all (interior and exterior) bulb types/numbers and which ones can be replaced by LED and which ones can't.

Best Mods to Get a CUCV to go 75mph?

I have taken some pretty long excursions with my M1009. 65mph seems like a sweet spot for the truck for the best mpg and I can do short sprints to 70/75 to pass slower traffic (which is on very rare occasions) easily enough. But I aways keep in mind that she is a heavy truck, with a short...

Light Bulb Numbers List for CUCV's

Maybe this would make a good "Sticky" and maybe not. I looked (as best as my skills allow) and I didn't find a comprehensive list for what light bulbs go where in our trucks. Also, when converting to LED, what bulbs must remain incandescent, in order to maintain proper operation of certain...

    Deep Water Fording

Even if you try and seal and vent everything you think of, water will always find a way into something. Taking all the precautions is smart, but doing maintenance and checks on all systems and fluids once the water fun is complete is wise insurance against rust and component failures.

    Draining fuel tank

I hear ya Rick, but I am not there yet. I do think this winter I will be ready for some new ones. Already located a shop that sells new Deka batteries in RI.

    Draining fuel tank

I recently had to drain my tank due to contamination. Have a look at this thread - https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/hard-start-issue.207027/ I disconnected the fuel supply line coming up to the fuel filter and, after cobbling together a line that would fit, I managed to hook it into my manual...
