    Trans Shift Points

Modulator is hooked up, modulator has vacuum to it. According to the TM, vacuum at the trans should be about 8 hg in. It is seeing that, so I am now trying to hunt down a modulator. I only have tomorrow to get it done, then the truck is going to sit for about two months while I recover from...

    Hard Start Issue

OK, so I spliced the return line today with a brass barbed fitting. Test drive produced no other loss of fuel from anywhere on the truck, so that was the culprit. Now if I can just get the trans figured out !

    Rotted vacuum hose?

I just got done replacing my hoses and don't have the adapter on mine. However, you will need two different size hoses and size transition pieces if you don't use it.

    Trans Shift Points

I got vacuum at the modulator. I did the the Transmission Vacuum Valve adjustment laid out in the TM, section 3-21. I have a solid 8 HG from the valve going to the trans modulator. During the adjustment, when I moved the Vacuum valve, the vacuum did increase and decrease with movement, so the...

    Trans Shift Points

OK, got a vacuum tester. And yes, without, I get a strong suction at the end of the hose. Vacuum at idle is reading 25 hg in from the pump head. What else should I check?

    Trans Shift Points

Hoses are in the correct position, but I am going to try the swap anyway, just to see what happens. Everything worked 100% before the vacuum pump head swap.

    Trans Shift Points

I'll check the hose tomorrow, after I get back from the VA. Thank God I have two cars (well, I have one and my wife lets me borrow hers .

    Trans Shift Points

OK, I replaced my vacuum pump and vacuum hoses the other day. Before I did this, my trans shift at 17mph (1st to 2nd) and 32mph (2nd to 3rd). After installing the new vacuum head, shift point are 30mph (1st to 2nd) and I have gotten up to 45+mph and she won't shift into 3rd. I have moved the...

    Hard Start Issue

OK, while trying to get my trans to shift correctly (I'll start a new thread) I once again encountered a hard start issue. This time no battery charger required, but after it started, I got pissed and started looking for a cause. Low and behold, I looked under the truck and I had a little...

    Hard Start Issue

No smoke from the exhaust, that is why I think I have a tiny air gap somewhere that is causing the loss of prime. My Deka batteries are at least circa 2015, but they are still up to the task.........in most circumstances. I will see if I can get a quick minute over the next few days to crawl...

    Hard Start Issue

OK, I had to travel overseas for a couple of weeks. Truck hasn't been started since my last post, back on Feb 10th, so she has been sitting, in the garage, for a little bit more than a month. So given the weather today, I got off my a$$ and put everything back together, as I won't be able to...

    Vacuum Pump Head

OK, I got brave and pulled the vacuum pump off the motor. I then "tried" to remove the two bolts that hold the vacuum head to the shaft. One came off fairly easy, the other, not so much. After I pulled them apart, I noticed that the old vacuum head was also a 4 bolt design, so I felt...

    Vacuum Pump Head

RGR That. I got the info from Squibbly and I did PM him early today, just waiting for a reply. Meanwhile, with pump in hand and ready to install, I was hoping others would chime in with their results of the 2 to 4 bolt swap.

Thanks Big Tom, I appreciate it. That's a 6 hour drive down for me and I am looking for something a bit closer (around two hours max).

    Vacuum Pump Head

After several recommendations, I got a new vacuum pump from Amazon - (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001PHKH4...t_i_T17VX5ET8ZYD1YFNVCW1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1). Same exact pump head, but different drive mechanism. Here is the issue (or maybe not). My current pump head has only two bolts holding...

Oh, and does anyone know (ballpark) how much it would cost to do the rear main seal (without removing the engine) and the trans or transfer case rear seal?

NE Connecticut Mechanic or Shop that can Work on my 6.2

I am taking a shot here. I live in the Northeastern corner of CT. I have a leaking rear main seal and a leaking rear trans or transfer case seal. I was going to try and do it myself, but I am having some major back surgery on the 25th and the pre-op crap (and having to drive an hour for each...
