    M923 13 Speed Swap

Pulled the hood off today to make a spacer for it. Got the shifter finished up and painted. Had to bend the throttle linkage to get it hooked up with the cab raised, got all that business adjusted properly. Only hard part left is the clutch pedal.

    M923 13 Speed Swap

Made a little progress on the shifter today. Still got a long way to go.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Threw some gauges in mine today.

    M35a2 automatic transmission swap?

Why not a stronger manual? An nv4500 or nv5600 would hold up fine unless you’re planning on a ton of power. Or even a 6 or 7 speed fuller would be great and likely land somewhere between the two nv’s as far as cost. I know that’s no help if you want an auto. I just can’t imagine putting an...

    M923 13 Speed Swap

I never addressed my jack shaft issue on here. I decided to look into a u joint spacer as I’m trying to do this on a budget. Goal is $2500 total. Right now I’m at about $2100. Wasn’t sure if it would work due to the length and possibly putting stress on the bolts. Spoke to a couple engineers...

    Perfect. Thank you.

    M923 13 Speed Swap

I have the cab sitting on 4x4s right now and so far everything is hooking up just fine. I’m most likely going to make spacers (hood also) and leave it lifted up permanently. That will allow me to bend the shifter under the cab and come through the floor wherever I want. Also will help with jakes...

    M923 13 Speed Swap

A little off topic but I mounted my coolant filter today. The bracket that came with it fit perfectly on the side of the block. Going to bypass the heater core for a while until I get some of this rust cleaned out. Anybody know which heater core line is in and which is out? This is the filter...

Cab is back on. I’m hoping to have it on the road by the end of the month. We’ll see.

    M923 13 Speed Swap

Not much progress lately. Put my air lines on. Can’t do anything else until the cab is on. I’m hoping to do that Saturday.

    Flame heater in exhaust pipe

You should start a thread on that....I’d like to see it

    M923 13 Speed Swap

Awesome. I have the old style knob right now but I think I want one like that. I decided to use all new air lines. Found that new transmissions come with normal dot tubing so that’s what I’m going to use. Just waiting on all that to come in.

    Turbo question

Side to side play is normal. As long as it's not rubbing the housing you're fine. They use journal bearings so that gap is filled with pressurized oil, similar to rod/main bearings.

    M923 13 Speed Swap

I went against advice and modified the factory trans mount. I did get a new rubber mount to hopefully avoid any issues for a while. I won’t be driving the truck much and to be honest I’ll probably be tired of it after a year or two anyway. Also pulled the shaft (more like 2 yokes) apart and...

    M923 13 Speed Swap

Sweet. Thank you. Based on my research I need 5/32” air lines to the shifter. Gonna try to get everything plumbed up tomorrow. Bout time to put the cab back on and start the hard part.
