I will be heading out of South Florida around 5 AM Wed morning. (650 miles / 10.5 hour + drive).
Driving just the CUCV-II Crew Cab this time.
I'll have both of my kids with me this time, planning on renting some ATV's and spending a little time on the rifle range.
I rented a cabin so I'll see...
I took the heads off the spare GEP engine and removed all the valves. Cleaned everything up and checked the valve seats. Lapped the valves and seats with some valve grinding compound. All seats looked good.
I just installed both heads and getting ready to put the valve covers back on. I hate...
Not yet, I think I burned all the fuel out of the filter though. I tried to restart it after I shut it off and it wouldn't start. I need to find some bolts for the fuel tank mounting straps. I have a new filter assembly on its way also.
Kenny got me thinking about taking the LSSV to the GA...
Update: I stopped by my storage place today to pay the landlady the rent payment.
I put two, fully charged batteries in the LSSV and turned the key....It started right up and all the gages work...best part is the mileage showed 18,700  and the engine sounded great.
Well the little oil leak turn into a big leak the other day. Oil got to one of my alternator on my way to work and fried it. Had to replace the factory oil cooler lines with an upgraded Cooler and Stainless Steel braided Teflon Hoses.
I have new alternators on their way from Rock Auto(half of...
I pulled one of the heads off the spare GEP motor I had. Going to check the valve seats on this head to see if it will work. If it's good I'll pull the other head and check it also. I bought new set of Mahler piston rings to put in the engine also.
Going to replace the front and rear seals...
Small chance it will be ready by then. I don't have enough time off with work and helping my son at the gun shows. I still have a lot to do on the CUCV-II to get it ready for the trip to GA.
Got some parts in the mail today.
Three new Allison transmission filters, part number 29539579 and the magnet that is on top of the filter that is always missing. Part number 29535617
GL sent me an email today. They requested $580.80 for Florida sales tax before they can send me the title. I wire them the money this afternoon. Now the wait begins.
I just submitted my request for the SF97 with GL today.
I stopped at the storage barn on the way back from Patrick AFB to see if I could get the truck started. One of the new batteries that I installed last week was completely dead. Looks like you have to switch the batteries off so...
It's up in the storage barn. I'll be Patrick AFB all next week. Won't be able to work on any of my toys. GA rally is right around the corner. A lot to get done before the road trip starts.
I installed two new batteries and turn the key to on....looks good so far.
Turn the key to start....it started right up and I shut it right off because it was drained of fluids.
So, it is looking good right now. :-D
I'm south of Jacksonville, FL now. Stopping at flying-j to get fuel and take a break. 273 miles to go. I might drive a little more and stop for the night.
