    B-17 Flying Fortress

I'm glad you got to go for a ride! For me, it was an experience of a lifetime, hopefully you got as much joy out of it as I did. I found out later that that aircraft was never restored for the ground up; it was always kept in flyable condition and well maintained. Sent from my iPhone using...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

Are you referring to the GEP 6500 Optimizer and the GEP P400 motors, I thought those were Navistar branded castings. Aren't those pretty good motors? Didn't mean to highjack the thread but I had to ask.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I can sympathize, our local 4 Wheel Parts is worthless. Unless you drive a new Jeep JK, they don't have much for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    M1009 frame question

It definitely makes sense. Don't doubt you at all! It's just something you don't really think about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    B-17 Flying Fortress

Yeah, that's never a good day. It's so sad to see them go down like that. Fortunately, nobody was hurt when that happened. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    B-17 Flying Fortress

I hope I'm alive to see The Swoose completed. I really want to see another B-29 made airworthy again too. I thought their was more than three airworthy B-17's? Wow. On a side note, when I flew in Madras Maiden earlier this summer, which is on loan to the Liberty Foundation, their flight...

Found some halftracks in the woods

Well done! Looks like that was a squeeze getting that into your trailer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    B-17 Flying Fortress

If you haven't heard, the restoration of the original Memphis Bell will be completed in 2018. The big public reveal is set for around May 18, 2018. I'm planning on taking off work the 18th to go to Dayton to see her. The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force has been putting out really cool...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I'll probably exchange it. I don't particularly enjoy going to Harbor Freight. I'm a staunch believer in the "buy once, cry once" philosophy. I try to buy the best tools I can afford- even some I can't. Harbor Freight has it's place though. I did paint my truck with a $15 paint gun. Sent from...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I replaced my transmission mounts and the steering stabilizer on the Blazer today. I was surprised at how easy the trans mounts came out and went back in. Like a breeze! I fought with the inside-most stud on the steering stabilizer, the bottom nut just wouldn't come off, it came off with a...

    Custom Oil Cooler lines...pics...info?

I plan on anchoring the lines using the factory hold down bracket. Thanks for the feedback. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Custom Oil Cooler lines...pics...info?

Going into the block I just used an anti-seize compound. I was more concerned with the aluminum seizing to the iron. The taper of the pipe thread should seal up though. On the upper fittings I used a product called Leak Lock but only on the tapered threads. Everything else is flare or o-ring...

    M1009 frame question

Could you elaborate a little more in this? Does the front bumper and mounts act as a sort or crossmember stiffing the front of the frame? Not questioning what your saying; just curious. I've just never heard that before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    M1009 frame question

I've been wanting one of the ORD kits but just haven't gotten a round to picking one up yet. Glad to hear it is a nice kit that works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm definitely going to anchor everything. I don't think it's in the photos but I slid heater hose over a small section that contacts the frame rail. Seemed to work pretty well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Issues with SF-97

Oh yeah right! Because they listen so well as it is. I bet most of them don't even know what an SF-97 is! But I digress...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
