Overthinking things again - Grease - Wheel bearings

The solid content percentage is a interesting topic. I did not mean to say that the thick grease caused bearings to run dry but I can see how my comment may read that way. I was more saying that the thick grease does not move from where you place it so if the hub is packed full of grease you...

Overthinking things again - Grease - Wheel bearings

This subject is full of opinions and they all have validity but that does not make any of them right or wrong. I personally use car quest wheel bearing grease I can get the part numbers if you want them but it is not as thick as many of the red tacky greases out there. My theory is that the...

M35a2 air filter element: commercial part #?

That is because the turbo on the deuce it terribly inefficient and any intake restriction causes a increase in intake air temps and a rich condition in the combustion chamber.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

It definitely looks like a crack but is it possible that it is not a crack and it is just carbon.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

that is fine but if you think about it you will see my point. The intake manifold would actually get hotter without coolant flow because of heat soak from the exhaust manifold. The coolant passages in the intake manifold do not heat the intake air charge especially when under load at full boost...

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

The coolant in the intake manifold is to reduce intake air temp not increase it. Turbo outlet temp is far higher than coolant temp. But regardless the air moves fast enough that the air would not be heated to manifold temp like everyone tries to claim with that argument. Most turbocharged...

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

Being that the pistons are probably cracked because of high egt I would change all of them and as far as the sleeves go it would be a decision based on cost.

Exhaust Manifold to Turbocharger - broken stud

Pb and a torch is your friend but is it leaking exhaust. If it is not leaking that is one of those jobs I would let go until it does simply because of the snowball factor

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

So in a way kind of like a carburetor jet that was drilled out a little bigger it will be fat in the mid range but up top is just right.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

With the 5 ton air filter it is more about the higher Cfm rating of the element than the Cfm of the housing. You may not see any gain from the extra hole in your housing.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

looking at this from a parts management prospective if you had 2 mechanically identical fuel pumps but they were adjusted, tuned, or preset to different fuel rates you would need two different part numbers. The community couldn’t find any significant differences in the fuel system other than...

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

Remember egt is effected slightly by many things but is mainly effected by air fuel ratio. The answer with high egt is always more air or less fuel the problem with always defaulting to more air is the engine can only handle so much torque.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

Is it possible that you may have always had that much blow bye but just never noticed it before. I mean we all seem to look for a problem that may not be there when we think a mistake was made. If it was my truck I would drive it around some more and see what does or does not change. As far as...

Starting research ld 465 1c turbo upgrade

This is more about finding a readily available more efficient turbo that possibly cost less than a surplus unit. If it makes more power that is great but efficiency and service life is the goal.

    6.8 V10 in a deuce?

Unless you want to loose your transfer case and all that it does I think you would be better off adapting to the deuce transmission. Things to consider how long is the engine, how wide is the engine, would the fuel economy become a problem, how much are you going to have invested in custom parts...

Starting research ld 465 1c turbo upgrade

Not reinventing anything just trying to reduce shock and stress on the internal components. The difference between a well tuned machine and one that just runs is how long they will last.

Starting research ld 465 1c turbo upgrade

This is why I am interested in a turbo that is more efficient and wastegated. When you turn the fuel on a stock turbo one of the problems is not being able to control the boost. A more efficient compressor will produce a cooler charge at the same pressure and you will be able to prevent...

    What engine can i use?

i think you would find yourself not wanting to drive at those speeds once you did it once. These trucks don’t have the suspension and brakes for going those speeds without being on the edge of a bad situation constantly. Yes it can be done but that is not a deuces element. Another thing to...

Starting research ld 465 1c turbo upgrade

Mine is also a non turbo but the only notable difference is the fuel injection timing that can be easily changed. As far as the 5t multi the general consensus is that the difference is the rocker arms are a larger ratio giving you more valve lift. So you don’t need to change the whole engine if...
