U-Pick junk yard if you have one close or someone here might be parting a CUCV out. I got a rebuilt one w/tilt off of E*ay for $109 shipped.

The TM will tell how it's done. Print the pages out and show the mechanic. You do not remove the water pump to replace the injector pump. Did they drop something behind the timing cover? Bolt maybe?

Here is the your fuel system out of TM 9-2320-363-24P. I don't think its a check valve problem. Like some have already said...you are sucking air or there is no fuel being sucked from inside the tank.
