36-3580 HD HEADLIGHT HARNESS Questions M1009

Kinda forgot about that. I read also that that fuse powers the horn and the courtesy light fuse too. Just for the heck of it has anybody used their multimeter to read the amperage of that fuse while everything in on. Everything, the headlights, blinkers, foot on the break, horn on, courtesy...

36-3580 HD HEADLIGHT HARNESS Questions M1009

Ok cool. I got the concept of it now. So would you want to put a lower amp rated fuse in the fuse box then?

    6.2 hard start oh08

This part sounds like your getting air in your fuel and/or losing prime. Mine was doing the exact same thing a while back. Check your fuel filter base, fuel hoses and clamps (especially the one going into the IP in the engine valley), the return hoses and the return check valve coming out of the...

36-3580 HD HEADLIGHT HARNESS Questions M1009

So since your switching a relay with the headlight switch and not the lights directly that would decrease the current flow ( amperage) through the switch, correct? Is this also going to decrease the amps through the headlight fuse in the fuse box?

Advantage of a CUCV over Civilian truck

36-3580 HD HEADLIGHT HARNESS Questions M1009

I'm ordering one of these for my M1009 today. Just to clarify, this is only for the headlights not the turn signals correct?

    Normal CUCV break in time

I think the electrical system is the hardest for people to figure out. I learn something new everytime I work on my CUCV. I also feel that most of the CUCV's electrical problems can be avoided with careful maintenance and certain upgrades like the doghead relay, a heavy duty headlight harness...

    M1009 starter

There has been covered a thousand times. Look up the part number in the TM and start Googling. Theres a for sale/want to buy section on the forum here. Did you try that? Theres a lot of CUCV owners here, maybe someone has one. What burned up on it? If it was me, I would deal with it, take it...

    newbie question

Like Warthog said, it's a 25+ year old truck. 100% reliability is not gonna happen. On the positive note, they really aren't that bad to work on. If you've wrenched on cars and trucks before, learning the CUCV's electrical systems and diesel driveline wont be that bad. You do have the TM's to...

Bump for the above. I'd be curious how its done.

    Front sway bar bushes

I'm agreeing with Sharecropper and Prairie. Just take it off. Don't be scared to, all the sway bar does is help minimize body roll during cornering. With leaf springs in the front the body roll is already small. If you don't like it without it you can always put it back on.

    Rebuilt injector pumps - maybe

I like how on the actual page for the 6.2l pump they have in red bold print, and I quote, "PENSACOLA DIESEL IS NOT A AUTHORIZED STANADYNE SHOP AND WE DO NOT WISH TO BE!" I wanna trust that I'm getting a quality product when I spend my hard earned cash. This does nothing to assure me of that.
