How many lockers to use for a 6WD M1088?

How many lockersto use for a 6WD M1088? Don’t someone own and use one of these trucks? Instead of endless debate on how it might be designed, take it out, chain it to a tree, depress the “go” pedal, and report back...

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Yeah, I may or may not have burnt a hole in a forklift oil filter, while jumping the starter with a screw driver. 12 volts, so lame... 24v, I probably could have gotten the oil to ignite.

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Makes sense, boats/combines, steady 2500 RPM, hot rodded trucks, not so much.

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Edit: slow typing... I see reference to under 2200 RPM in post #50, I wonder the part number for higher RPM agricultural and marine applications, and if they would benefit those that have cranked the revs up on their trucks?

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Yep, I never should have even suggested it. More of a get out of woods/home emergency hack, that "I" might attempt, but after seeing the pictures with the damper off, the rubber/gap is much bigger than I thought. I've got a better emergency hack in mind now, but will keep it to myself;)

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

There are several different part numbers that pop up when you search the NSN. Eastern Surplus has a used A2 damper listed under this part number, Jason O listed this part number in his thread...

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Seeing a used one for $90, search cummins part # 3925568. Also 5.9 cummins balancer looks sneakingly similar, but I have no idea if they would work. If you weren’t in a hurry you could, put an add in “parts wanted” see what pops up, but kind of already showed your hand on what your willing to...

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Two pieces, likely bonded together with a thin layer of rubber, total speculation looking at the pictures and recollection of how other balancers are made. Could maybe pop it apart, clean it up and braze it back together until you can find a cheaper used one?

    M923a2 shredding serpentine belts

Ha, think I was the only one to guess right! Price sucks but glad you didn’t have to pull the radiator.

M939 as a welder power supply?

I only remember the good stuff, and forget absolutely everything else... 🤪

Are we sure the pulley is not pressed on the balancer, and started slipping? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

M939 as a welder power supply?

Didn’t you do some “welding” with your truck once?

Non-ether cold weather starting solutions for the 8.3?

I think that was it on mine. The shop was about 35 degrees tonight, cranked for about 5 seconds, no start. I pulled the hand throttle to the first notch (usually about 700 RPM), hit the switch and fired right off! X2 on the ether, get the factory system going, perfect dose every time with no...

    Can anyone ID this wheel?

Hey, don’t sweat it! Your more of a man than a few others here, to own up to a simple mistake. You can blame your signature “a million pounds of CARC” for this one!

Non-ether cold weather starting solutions for the 8.3?

Hmmm... you have me wondering about mine, starts in a half second down to about 35-40 degrees. Any colder than that it just cranks, until I drop a shot of ether, then it fires right off no matter how cold. My idle is set fairly low at 450, so I’ll try cracking the throttle a bit the next time...

    Can anyone ID this wheel?

Alrighty then... good luck identifying your slick wheels.

    Can anyone ID this wheel?

Did you try taking the cap bolts out and taping the valves with a hammer? It looks like they have a very heavy coating on them making them appear to be part of the wheel...

M939 as a welder power supply?

What size are your 7013 rods? You wont likely have very good luck with bigger rods at 24v. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Locate paperclips Reproduction

Hah, perfect, now I get it, slap that auto correct around once for me! I thought maybe you where using some rigging terms I was unfamiliar with.
