    Ship's engineer M54A1 crash-course.

No worries, but you did miss out on a four-pack of Allagash White that I was going to bring over. I spent the afternoon instead pulling injectors from my M109A3 for testing. Glad to hear you recovery went well!

Good Deal! I'm taking Mrs. Katahdin out to brunch to Cape Elizabeth at the moment, if you're still in town later this afternoon I'll try to meet up.

How far did you get yesterday?

Purpose of the Reverse Gear Shifter shaft that sticks out the transmission cover?

It would appear Doghead is hitting the sauce again. Moderators may want to gently remind him that SS members are expected to scribe their thoughts into coherent sentences. That shaft is attached to linkages going to the Sprag transfer case. Although generally discontinued in the 1970s...

    M109 Box Removal

You can take off the bolts/flaps etc and slide/pull the box onto a wrecker like you described.

I'm 3.5 hours South of Bangor at 40mph, but I wish you well on your recovery and will be following this thread!

    M35a2 oils

I've put two bottles of STP w/ZDDP in my two multifuel crankcases. One has Rotella Dino 15W/40, the other has Delo. I will report back any lab test findings, but that probably won't occur until next year. I've used Supertech synthetic in my Jeep TJ 4.0 and small engines (Briggs, Honda, HF)...

Edit, video link didn't work. Here's some pics from FB.

    Mobile Alabama was STUCK

This saga is well documented on the M35A2 Facebook page, a recovery is in progress with the assistance of two deuces.

    In the Beginning ...

I was led to believe the first tracked vehicles were invented in Maine (1901) for log hauling. http://umaine.edu/met/capstone-projects/2014-lombard-steam-log-hauler-restoration/ And Paul Bunyon was born in Maine too. :-P

GSA Deuces sold in MASS and MAINE

Yes, the 109 is mine. That one was brought up to NE on a lowboy from Fort Campbell, so I'm trying to do my part! You may have seen the 109 at Weare, as I think I saw your truck there too.

GSA Deuces sold in MASS and MAINE

I towed a GSA/Maine Forestry M35A2 home from Augusta in July. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTEhHTVnNy4 Once home I changed all the fluids, filters, and belts and got her street legal this month, she runs great. Edit: Oh yeah, I also pressure washed all the mice feces out of the cab and...

Were the air tanks fully pressurized when the inspection took place?

    M35a2 oils

Just 41 hours on my sample, but if the Carnac's records are accurate, my engine only saw 38 miles of use after its 1985 rebuild. I'd like to think I'm "breaking it in." :driver:

    M35a2 oils

This is what the military considers normal/abnormal, although its not clear to me how many hours were run on the engine to garner these results.. Attaching a recent report on my M109. Going by the above metrics I only seem high in lead and copper, which is an indicator of bearing wear...

M109 Shop van and M185 van replacement window screens

Yep, they do indeed look correct. I'd order some but I had bought a complete set already from another source. Nice find!

No pedal after bleeding air pack in M35A2

Some longer air style air packs have a small square plug on the rear cover, I think its 5/16"? remove that and squirt the oil in there. Others you have to remove the air pipe going into rear of the air pack to add the oil, for that use a 3/4 inch line wrench.

After 5 years...she is running again, one down...2 to go!

I like those tires, what brand/model are they?

    Obvious differences between engines

Here's a pic of a Hercules D/TD block that also shows some shape variation. It has the same part number as my square'd off Continental block.
