    Project M99Ocho

Welcome to the forum Hoosier. Looks like a pretty solid truck, and that price isn't terrible. Time to start doing the Lube Order and checking out here systems. Hopefully nothing terribly wrong with her. Time will tell. Bulldogger

    Oil pressure spike

Plumbing in a cheap mechanical gauge will give you some reassurance’s about true pressure. It is up to you whether to keep it n or not. You most likely have ground issues and/or a bad sensor or gauge, or all three since our trucks are old enough to have multiple faults. I recommend installing...

    4L80e and NP241c Upgrade

Woof! Plenty of work and troubleshooting, but I don't mean to disparage. Great job and thank for sharing the writeup for all interested. This helps me NOT want to go this way, owing to the amount of work and my meager setup/tools. Valuable, but not like I'd hoped, but very valuable. You're...

Could plumb a gauge on it?

M998 Alternator Mount Broken Bolt for a NOOB

If the bolt broke due to vibration, and wasn't wrenched in half due to being stuck by corrosion, you might be able to tickle it out with a pick/punch, hitting it CCW as though twisting it out. This sometimes work if the bolts aren't frozen in. Can't say it'll work for sure since I don't know...

HMMWV Video Spotted Do you speak German

I didn't watch the whole thing. The featured woman, Katrine, works for aGerman auto importer who facilitate transport and delivery of autos from outside of Germany, typically out of containers. She likes the H1, so gives the HMMWV some special attention and time on the video. It PAINED me to...

3 Speed Shifter to 4 Speed Shifter- Modifications

I'd cheerfully buy an unplated version! I am hoping to tackle a powertrain swap next year and want to DIY a 4-speed shifter. Your solution to remap the gates and retool the shifter is definitely of interest and I don't mind paying for a kit that solves me fussing with a protractor. Bulldogger

3 Speed Shifter to 4 Speed Shifter- Modifications

Wow! A thorough answer to a question many of us have. Lots to digest here. Thank-you for documenting it so well. Someone will ask if you will provide the parts, or modify 3spd shifters if sent you, so it might as well be me... Bulldogger

    Galvanized Deuce Wheels

They look great. Not cheap but a good investment to protect the reliability of your truck. I second the request to see a pic with a “blinged” deuce :) Bulldogger

Oops, shoulda expanded the picture, or worn my reading glasses. Yes, not Packard. BDGR

    2 position electrical connector

Some people call them Packard connectors. I bought a bunch off the-Bay a while back just to have them. A crimping tool is useful, or you might try soldering (crimper ex. Buchanan C-24). Protip: put a little dielectric grease on any of these you take apart, so they can be taken apart later...

    7.3 powerstroke swap

Jeepsinker is detailing a Cummins 6BT transplant on this forum that might be an interesting read. I agree that something straight is easier than something V8 from what I’ve seen w these old frames. Anything is possible with enough time, money and swearing of course. Bulldogger...

    Mission Impossible..(?)

For the less agile; what are the thingies you're talking about? Some WWII relics badly in need of sandblasting and paint? He sure let them sit a while before deciding to act, eh?

Ongoing Log Of My 1987 HMMWV

A cheap auto parts store manual oil gauge can be had for little $ and plumbed long enough to double-check your military gauge's accuracy. In my case the Mil gauge and/or sensor was off by 30psi (reading low). I had the exact condition you describe, and it was fixed with a new sender and new...
