Ongoing Log Of My 1987 HMMWV

On my 1987 60 amp alternator engine: Water pump belt (2 needed), NAPA 25-7490 Alternator belt (2needed), NAPA 4215SS Hope this helps. These have done me well, with routine checkups and occasional re-tension. Bulldogger

NAPA has belts back when I needed them. I will do some digging and see what I can turn up. Bulldogger

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Why only three brake rotors? And you removed the auxiliary pull start cable too? BDGR

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I like the marine grade steel ones I installed last month. Can see here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?147917-What-have-you-done-to-your-HMMWV-today-lately&p=2233208&viewfull=1#post2233208 Search for "Amarine stainless 2-pack" on Amazon and you should find them. BDGR

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I would think a Colorado location would have "Camo" as a choice.... You must be in Boulder... (couldn't resist the jab, no offense intended) BDGR

What did you do to your trailer today.

Most of the tie downs were attached to the center tray so they came off. I did save them and their bolts of course. I can add some back if I feel the need. I plan to use use it for cargo mostly. If camping just as carry-all. Some folks do use the tray as a starter for a small bed, but not me...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Not M101, M116A2. I do have a stock M101 but not a radar support version (it’s in the classifieds) Here is a pic of the M116 Bulldogger

What did you do to your trailer today.

Removed the center tray from my radar support trailer. Stripped most of the tie downs as well. Once the rest of the mounting fittings come off the deck I’ll have a nice semi-flat bed with cubbies on each side. Bulldogger

Parade - pulling float...unplug fan control????

My fan cycles from 225-220, on and off respectively. That's the temp on the gauge anyway. Used to not be so good, but I replaced the gauge and block sensor. BDGR

    Members in Northern Virginia?

I'm up for something, schedule permitting. I'm fairly well booked for October myself due to family stuff, but November is more open. My son and I have done a few such gatherings and like showing up in a non-typical vehicle. Prefer something not too far from Fairfax myself. Bulldogger

Gas pedal hard to press Normal?

Well, without a reference it could just be the difference between a utility truck and civvy truck. I do drive with my leg, not rocking my ankle, so to speak. We’ll see what our new member comes back with. Bulldogger

Gas pedal hard to press Normal?

I recommend some Googling for Stanadyne DB2 injection pump information. There are several troubleshooting and info pages around. I can't remember the source I referred to, so don't have a specific link. I assume your rig has the DB2, it is common to the 6.2L (especially) and most 6.5L as...

Gas pedal hard to press Normal?

Definitely not. If it sat a very long tie the injection pump might be gummed, but this sounds like something else. Have someone push on it while you inspect visually. If you raise the hood and pull yourself up w the steering wheel you can see some of the linkage. Sounds like an obstruction...

    Picked up a $500 m1009 Sh*tbox. No key? Hotwire?

Reach out to hrbergeron on this site. He had one in rough but not that bad shape (i'd say way better than yours) he was trying to move a couple of months ago. Might still have it. He's in NOVA, so not far away from you. BDGR

    Geared Hub Leaking

Seals often give up after several years, I’ve replaced several of mine and other friend’s. If you haven’t opened and inspected each of your hubs I strongly recommend it. The TM will walk you through it. Check those bearings. If a seal is bad it might let water in to do its dirty work on the...

    PLEASE make it start

It sounds to me like you have corrosion or breaks inside the jacket of the battery cables. It’s not that expensive to replace them and eliminate that as a potential cause. I’ve bought a lot of old vehicles and have replaced many a battery cable. Bulldogger

power steering pump part#? 87' HMMWV with 6.2 non turbo

I’d replace all your piping as a precaution. Make sure it’s high pressure power steering tubing, not fuel or oil tubing. I further recommend using fuel injection style clamps, instead of hose clamps. I’ve had good results with them and they don’t cut into the outer jacket the way Mr Gasket style...
