Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

The megger is for condition monitoring, not troubleshooting. You start with a new set and when the reading drops below a certain value you send the windings out of a bake. If you're blowing diodes your resistances are already in the ohm range and can be tested with a standard ohmmeter. Also...

M1009 Fuel lift pump to fuel filter hard line replacement

These hoses see 5-10 psi. It will hold with a clamp on the tube but if you want a barb you can flare the tube and use one of these. https://www.mcmaster.com/5346K77 I do not recommend worm drive clamps for small diameters. Use a pinch clamp. They're inexpensive and so is the install tool...

M1009 Fuel lift pump to fuel filter hard line replacement

I would hose it. Use SAE J30R10 hose with FKM tube and cover and it will outlast everything. https://www.gates.com/us/en/fluid-power/engine-hose/fuel-line-hose.p.4219-000000-000012.html

    Banks Turbo for M-1009 CUCV

The Banks kits are no longer being produced. It's not so much a money issue as simply finding one.

    Banks Turbo for M-1009 CUCV

Consider having a manifold fabricated to mount the turbo in the Banks location. A decent fabricator could add a turbo pedestal to a stock manifold using powdered nickel metal spray. It won't be pretty but it will work. Or you could build a tubular manifold like the HMMWV has.

    Project Wild Weasel M1009

Hand pack them with a polyurea grease like Lucas X-Tra Heavy Duty and you'll be repacking much less frequently.

Drum to hub safety wire help

The pliers are available in clockwise and ccw rotations. If you're only tying pairs of fasteners you can do the ccw manually but if you're doing larger groups of fasteners you may want both directions. https://www.mcmaster.com/safety-wire-pliers If you expect your tie wire to see any exposure...

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

Dosing with SCA is supposed to be once every 300 hours if I remember correctly. ELC coolants perform better provided the system is clean. Not all ELC coolants protect against liner cavitation. Not all engines need protection. For example, Caterpillar requires a hybrid coolant with nitrites...

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

When you see this line: "formulated to be compatible with antifreeze/coolants of all major producers. " It can't be a conventional inorganic acid type coolant. FYI, SCA has always been pink.

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

Any coolant you buy at the auto parts store is going to be an organic acid type coolant. Conventional coolants are no longer sold at the consumer grade level. If you do want a conventional coolant Caterpillar DEAC is still available. This coolant does require regular dosing of SCA. If you want...

Drum to hub safety wire help

The part that everyone misses is the direction of the twist. It's clockwise for the first, counter clockwise for the second. It continues to alternate if you are joining additional fasteners. The second video does this incorrectly. The goal is that the wire that wraps around the head of the...

Smoked brand new diodes - GETT / Applied ECU / 23kw 3 Phase Generator

Here is a short article on diode failures. It sounds like your exciter is damaged. I would suggest taking a resistance reading on the exciter. Diode Failure Scenarios Modes of Failure, Causes and Effects - MER Equipment https://merequipment.com/wp-content/uploads/Diode-Failure-Scenarios.pdf

    Straight pipe post turbo

Header wraps cause crevice corrosion on stainless steel piping. If you're dry all of the time this shouldn't be an issue. Heat shields are more effective, though. If you follow that route. Copy what modern cars do. They routinely pack hot exhaust systems in cramped places.

    Straight pipe post turbo

Less back pressure is always better. On a naturally aspirated motor the high energy exhaust pulses in small tubes travel at high velocity which reduces their pressure (Bernoulli). A turbo engine benefits from no such effect post turbo. Bigger shorter straighter is better. With that said, I don't...

A0 fuel in coolant. Need advice.

The only thing you need done is to have the cups replaced. The rest of that is unnecessary up sale. Remember, fuel is leaking ino the coolant. Coolant isn't leaking into the injectors. Look closely at your timing cover leak. The gaskets are not prone to failure. Timing covers crack from poorly...

    My 1-Ton restomod m1009 thread

Everything looks great. Not to be a negative Nancy but upping wiring gauge for no real reason puts a lot of stress on the terminals. This applies to many applications. I get stuck with many controls and automotive situations where someone uses 14 gauge in lieu of 18. The heavy gauge wire...

    Starter motor loosens recurrently - M1009 / Chevrolet Blazer K5 6,2 Diesel

My bike history: 2x 1970 Honda CT 90 1986 Yamaha TT225 1987 Honda CR250R 2005 Yamaha R1 2001 Yamaha YZ250 2018 Yamaha MT-10 2001 Honda XR650R Current garage has both 2001 bikes. Guess which bike is still my favorite? My neighbor has one he is offering for free but it's so expensive and time...

Cadillac Valve & TDM Keeps Burning Out

I am an operator of marine diesel engines. I have made some observations with regards to temperatures. It's generally understood that higher engine temperatures do result in lower cylinder wear rates. I believe the wear is a result of corrosion due to condensation in the crankcase. With the...

    Who’s ran 5.38 gears?

It's a 1008. Yes, I installed only zero rates and trimmed only the front of the fender. I'm running skinny tires, 37x12.5.
