Here is a picture of the wiring "plug". It appears to be staked in on 2 sides. I think I would ruin the pump by prying the connector out.
And after reading further, I question whether the pump from Austin would be safe with a WMO/gasoline mix.
I'm just putting the old pump back in.
The only place I personally saw Mules used in Vietnam, was at ammo dumps. Phu Bai & Danang in particular.
There were trailers about the same size as the Mule. They'd hook a bunch together to form a "wagon train", then drive around the dump "picking" your order, for smaller lots of ammo.
For...
I had to drain the tank due to some crappy fuel & found some pieces of the old pump in the bottom.
I want to keep the old pump because it still runs, but I figure now's a good time to install one of the new ones I bought from Austin Aviation.
I can't figure out how to get the wiring unhooked...
I don't heat my WMO before filtering, but I do try to get enough done in the summer time to carry me through to next year.
I add gas or diesel in the winter only. About 50/50 I guess.
For brake, bearing, and seal work, I think it's a LOT easier to leave the wheels attached to the hub & brake drum assembly. Use either a wheel dolly or a greased board to slide the assembly off.
If you're going to be going down the road right away, you can fill it almost to the top. Level will drop quick enough that you won't have to worry about overfilling:???:
If it's going to be parked, especially in the sun, leave a couple of inches at the top of the tank.
I think there is info in the Alternative Fuel thread about this.
My NHC 250 doesn't like much oil mixed in with the diesel.
Maximum 20% or it idles rough & is hard to start.
Well, the guy from the alternator shop called me.
He said the alternator was actually set up to be 12 volt, but was missing some parts. He's going to get it working for me, but says 100 amps in that size case is going to get pretty hot. No guarantee how long it will last.
I may make it into...
Yup, you guys are right regarding the brakes. Obviously (now) any pressure should be relieved back thru the master cylinder. What's odd though, is that I had no problems after I pinched-off the brake line to the RR wheel. 140 Miles home.
I will bite the bullet & flush the brake fluid and see...
Thanks for the tips guys!
I'll get back to working on it in a little while, if I don't get called out for any more emergency Slurpee machine repairs:grin:.
Well, I recovered from Haspin just fine, but my Deuce sure hasn't.
Some of you guys noticed that I had an axle seal leaking on the rear. We agreed "it should make it home alright". NOT.
About 50 miles into my return trip, my brake pedal was very hard to depress. Pulled over. RR wheel was...
