I'm working on my 67 m37 and I have a question. I've searched the forums with no luck, and unfortunately I can't access the TMs due to not having access to a computer at this time (I can only get online with my phone for the time being). I need to know if the gas tank can be removed from...
If you really want a CUCV expedition vehicle I'd suggest an M1010. It's one of the primary reasons I bought mine. I didn't see the ad before it was removed but if the truck you found is a good deal it may be worth buying it to resell and buy something else that'll work better for your needs...
A good rule to follow in buying a winch is go no smaller than one that is rated at 1.5 times the loaded weight of your vehicle. I personally think that 2x the vehicle weight is a better bet tho. Believe it or not the newer Harbor Freight Badlands winch has been getting a lot of great reviews...
Look into the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac A/T. They're supposed to have low road noise and great handling characteristics, but still offer an aggressive enough tread design to help you out if you happen to encounter some unexpected mud or other sloppiness.
My ultimate fantasy plan (which is unlikely to happen due to lack of proper tools and facilities) was to fab a type of exoskeleton around the box that would provide mounts for a roofrack and a swinging gate over the rear drivers side door. The gate would serve as a mount for a spare tire, fuel...
Ok, so over the last few months I've noticed the outside door handle on the rear door of my M1010 has been getting weak, and last week while I was packing up for a camping trip it finally broke off completely. It's the oddest place I've ever seen a rust issue on a vehicle (it rusted through...
Hey Cletus09, I see you're in Norton. I'm right next door in Barbertucky. You wouldn't happen to live near the Old Stone Jail, would you? I've seen someone near there with an 08 and an 09, but haven't had a chance to stop to look at them. Hit me up if you ever have questions or need help on...
Also when you park the truck at night turn off the master switch for the headlights (switches below headlight switch, put the switch closest to the steering wheel in the middle position) as this can run the battery dead when parked awhile.
Do a search for DUVAC Removal Plan B. Most likely your problem is a bad DUVAC box. Or you may want to consider converting to 12v all together. Since the box and equipment are gone it would be quite easy. How far is Lancaster from Logan, Ohio?
I look forward to seeing if this works as planned. I have similar plans for the back of my M1010, although I'll be running 2-3 deepcell batteries, or possibly even 4-6 6volt golfcart batteries.I switched to a 160amp 12v alternator on top and I'm hoping I can just run a cable back directly off of...
DrHymer, where in Ohio are you? If you're close to either Akron or Logan Ohio I can take a look at it and at the very least tell you if it is an M1010, and probably diagnose your problem with it.
If you haven't been able to fix your truck yet there is a really easy way to get a working charging system and still have useable 12v power for accessories. Look up the thread M1010 DUVAC Removal Plan B.
I've actually been watching that thread lately. Your m1010 build is virtually identical to what I've wanted to do to mine. I've been recently coming up with cabinet designs to allow a sink setup and storage. I intend to keep the original benches since they offer great storage and a platform to...
What ever happened with this build? I'd love to see the current results, and the progress of any of the other m1010 camper builds. I'm in process of building the same, although it has temporarily stalled out and I could use some ideas and inspiration to move forward on converting it.
I found the 12v Leece Neville listed between $200-250, the alternator I used is about $100-120 new. Check with local wrecking yards that deal with commercial trucks. You may be able to find a good used LN 12v since it seems they were fairly common on a lot of bigger trucks. I guarantee this will...
Btw, I vote we call this the Plan B Mod, since most of us 1010 owners have either tried or planned on trying different routes before finding this easy fix.
Ok, it is not a direct boltup. The adjustment ear is about 1/2" too short, but nothing a simple homemade bracket couldn't fix. I haven't had a chance to do any readings on the voltage or amperage yet but hope to later tonight. It has put the factory dash gauge into the green for the first time...
