Our halftrack project has been a work in process for 10 years with on only a handful of details remaining to be completed. What started out as a worn out stripped chassis has slowly come together by acquiring all the various pieces parts. Basically, this was the only way we could ever afford...
Matt,
I actually had the halftrack out for a spin this afternoon, it does ride rough especially when empty. It smooth's out when loaded up with riders. The noise from the floor plates, ammo locker shelves and lids is the most noticeable thing, everything is tight, but they really rattle. I was...
My two daughters and myself use to go "Army truck camping" in our M35, usually up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I had installed two sets of seat belts for the passenger bench seat. Since they were small, they had plenty of room. Those were great times and now as married women they still talk...
Mr. Wiginton is a great old fella. Visited with him about 10 or 12 years ago when he had NOS complete windshield assemblies for M211 trucks. If I remember they were $150 and still in the boxes, I got the last one. When asking him about other parts, he drove me to various buildings and directed...

The passenger step with the square tread is unusual, I have only seen it on the side step and never on the inside floor. I have one on the shelf as an extra for our M2A1, it has a Diamond-T manufacture label on the back side. Aluminum flooring was used for the early halftrack flooring and steel...
If I start our M813 while cold and set the hand throttle to a higher RPM to warm up the engine it will do the same thing. Never had the need to use the hand throttle after the engine is warm to see if the same occurs.
We had the opportunity to display our halftrack today along side a current USMC MRAP ATV at a Wounded Warrior event. I doubt the old and new have been side by side much. Interesting to compare 70 yrs worth of technical advancement.
