    37" Humvee Spare Tire?

That is a very trick setup for your spare! I think most of the threads out there currently leave a lot to be desired. I think a "show us your tire carrier" style thread would be a good idea regardless of what type of truck its on as long as its a C/K or R/V straight axle platform the info would...

    Outfitting M1031 SECM

I find that most boxes are so incredibly similar yet different ;)

    Which inverter voltage input?

I have a small guy mounted right under the foot heater vent up on the trans tunnel. I use it to power my laptop and charge my phone in the truck since I have no other 12v lighter receptacle or radio to do so. It's just a little 400 watt unit. Just as a side note, I've noticed that my phone gets...

    Which inverter voltage input?

I would avoid the WTSHTF commentary because it is a frowned upon subject in this forum, plus you will face public humiliation and rude treatment rather than a simple or polite "hey can you change that" note. So I will carry on "hypothetically" discussing inverter usage in a survival scenario :)...

    Which inverter voltage input?

Agreed, both power and ground need to be same size. I always get a kick out of the stereo guys that spend big $$$ on the power line but then ground the amp to a seat bolt. So where did the electrons go exactly??? I have no idea what type of inverter you have or what you use the truck for but...

    Outfitting M1031 SECM

Probably would be easiest to just pull over on the side of the road rather than attempting it mid-flight :) That explains it, mine is an M1031 service box. Probably why you don't have the horizontal racks up high at the front either.

    Outfitting M1031 SECM

As long as you can get into the shade with a cold one! What is the receptacle on the filler panel on your driver side fender? Mine doesn't have that. I also noticed you have a T-handle lock with a build in key tumbler for a lock. Mine has plates that a padlock goes through. Did you install them...

    Which inverter voltage input?

I wouldn't think twice...24 volts if the CUCV or any other MV is your primary usage. Probably not ideal if you wanted to swap it and use it in a boat/car/civvy truck, etc. How do you plan on using it? Personally if I wasn't going to establish a permanent mount, I would wire it up to a spare...

    headlight issue

May just have a sticky contact. My hazards don't work unless I move the button in and out about a million times.

    headlight issue

I would say yes and no. The LMC will take much load off the headlight circuit since now all it does is activate a relay. If corrosion or weak connections exist in the stock circuit, it may be enough of a problem to cause headlight failure but not enough to turn off the LMC relay setup.

    Some Random NP205 questions

It looks like a zerk fitting...not sure since mine just had a regular bolt. If you are running your PTO setup, twin sticking will require some fab work or the safety switch to function correctly if you want to retain it. I agree, I would like to have a twin stick set up but I also would rather...

    Some Random NP205 questions

With the hubs unlocked, you have no drive to the front wheels. Since climbing Mt. Washington is rather tough in a low horse heavy truck, I wanted the additional gearing of low range without the added traction of 4wd since the road is mostly paved. For this setup, you can shift into 4LO with the...

    Some Random NP205 questions

Play at 1 is probably going to exist because its just a simple shaft going into a hole ;) Play at 2 is most likely the loose bushing or bolt. I couldn't tell you what it's made of originally because my bushing was gone. I didn't check to see what the availability is on the part either, went...

    Some Random NP205 questions

No prob, good luck. I had a lot of work to get my tcase situated when I first bought the truck. The lever actually came out in my hand the first time I went to use it in a storm. Woohoo, that was fun...

    Some Random NP205 questions

When I first purchased my truck, the tcase lever was almost flopping out of the truck. Turns out that the lever bolt was coming out and no bushing was installed. I machined up a bushing and installed a much beefier bolt. Now the linkage is solid. More than likely you probably have a worn bushing...

    Some Random NP205 questions

Yeah, taking it up Mt. Washington in 4LO hubs freewheeling (just for some added gearing) and magically the light comes on at roughly 4,000 feet. I was like, "cool...it finally works!" Needless to say that on the way back down the light went off...DOH! I'm thinking a healthy dose of electrical...

    Some Random NP205 questions

My switch only seems to work at high elevations...rather strange. The NP205 does have a much different feel compared to the NP208 because it doesn't have the split shift pattern. I believe the NP208 requires you to go over and down for Low. The NP205 is just straight back and forth which...

1984 M1009 Front end / drive train issue?

Sounds like time for a teardown. Depending on age, you may just want to replace balljoints, bearings, and ujoints as preventative maintenance even if you find just one bad. I'd probably go ahead and do TREs and have it aligned just to be safe. Good luck with the storm. All my buddies in Maine...

    steam cleaning

Notice I said "if you know what you are doing"? ;) Anything outside the realm of common sense can cause bad stuff to happen. I would say watering your alternators or feeding your glow plugs some ether probably bad ideas.

    Head Gaskets

What are you looking to get out of this? I would say regardless of the engine, if you want to do it right for a long term owner I would have them sent out and checked for cracks, mill if any warpage is found (probably just have machine shop do it anyways to prep them for install, replace valve...
