Is not a Personel MV considered a recreational vehicle? If you are not making money with the vehicle, then what are you doing with it? Personal transportation? Are you having fun driving your MV? Is that not recreational? I know that I have a smile a mile wide after driving my M814, just...
BUT IT IS ONLY FOR MOTOR CARRIERS!!!!!!! Those folks who make MONEY carrying stuff from point A to point B. I don't make money with my M814, I SPEND IT.
I will be taking my 814 thru NC on the way to Haspin, and I dare a NC revenue Agent to issue me a ticket.:driver:
THe key here is COMMERCIALLY. As long as the vehicle is being driven for personal use, you do not need a IFTA sticker. As far as the fuel blending goes, in SC, you just need to get a fuel blenders number, and keep up with the amount of gallons you use to BLEND WITH.
As long as you comply with...
I suppose we can put the fuel tanker in the bed of the 814, along with the M37. That means all you will have to do is haul your sorry carcass over Saluda Mtn in that rough riding, slow ass 818.
I will be there with my wife. Will need food. I plan to camp, someplace level. I am driving the "Long Easy" M814. I will be with Ferro, god help us...................:driver:
I just spent a day in a 818 pulling a trl with 32,000lbs of concrete ties. THe 818 did okay, as long as you were in 5th gear, and you had to keep her turned up- just about ran her wide open all day long.
Of course, I was still hearing the 818 a day later.
The stock 5 tons will run all day long at 50 MPH. The 5 tons have factory power steering, loads of torque, and are a blast to drive. Having said that, 5 tons are loud(but quieter than a deuce) you really need a CDL to drive one, and will eat you out of house and home.
The problem with most commercial truck tires is that they are smaller in diameter then the NDT's. With the gearing of the 5 tons, I sure don't want to go smaller.
I talk about the 814, and she tells me that I spend more money on the 814 then I spend on her. So I add it up, and she was right about January. But I just dropped 8G's to go to alaska with her, so the balance has changed in her favor.
I own an M814 with the stock 1100X20" rims. I want to replace the stock tires with T831 Firestones, size 12R 22.5. THe problem is that the tires fit on 9" wide rims, and the tire is 12" wide. Has anybody dueled out this combination? I know the 22.5" rims will fit the bolt hole pattern. My...
I just removed the hose from the filter to the IP, and carried it down to NAPA. They made a hydro line for me- don't have to worry about that line wearing a hole, or cracking.
On the 818, you either have a cracked rubber hose at the selector switch, or the rubber line from the fuel filter to the IP is cracked.
From the way you describe the engine is starting, I would place bets on the hose to the IP. Your 818 is doing the same thing as my 814- and I don't have the...
Just undo the return line where it goes from the flexible hose near the frame rail. Point the hose into a 5 gallon container, crank it up, and see how it runs. I did this to confirm that I didn't have a problem with my IP sucking air back thru the return line.
I had 3 air leaks on the supply line. THe 814 ran like crap, would not idle worth a **** when hot, and in a hard pull, the power would just go away. Finally replaced the flexible fuel line from the filter to the IP, and a brass fitting near the tank. Now the cummins runs so sweet, and idles...
