For the first time in 2 months, drove my truck again, this time not without some issues... Had to complete the glow cycle 4! times before the engine kicked into life.. It is not that cold, +12 degrees celcius. Then noticed the voltmeter in the dash stopped working, but hey, the truck runs and...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Well, the leak stop did plug the leak, so that problem is fixed. Let's see what breaks/leaks/dies next.. :carnac: Coming weekend I may need to tow a 4500-5000 kg Magirus campertruck, but I hope my buddy can get bloody thing running. To get rolling with a towbar is not the problem, it's the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Mine is a stock M1028. No A1 or A2, do wish I had a dually..... Got it 4 years ago, put some 20k miles on it with weekend driving trips, offroading, pulling trailers, and the occasional load in the bed. Not a daily driver, it is my weekend/holiday toy.

What did you do to your trailer today.

On my A2 there was a hole you can put a piece of round bar in, as sort of a blocking when reversing.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Back from a week in the UK. The M1028 towed my trailer like a champ, just a bit slower at getting up to cruising speed of 53/54 mph. When I got of the boat into the UK, there was a big incline to take on the highway, so a little more go-pedal and kickdown was used. That was the time I noticed...

Checked fluids, greased the steering joints, tightened the belts and put some candle wax on there. Also put just a very little amount of grease on the pintle, where the trailer lunette touches. If the grease is a big no-no, please inform me why. Ready for the trip to the UK.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Have been prepping the M1028 for the trip to the UK. War and Peace revival show in Beltring. The belts always squeel a little while until the voltage meter goes all the way in the green. Lubricated them with some candle wax, no more squeel, so me is happy. Please note this is done with running...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Was finally able to register the trailer to my name, as the previous owner finally got the paperwork ready. Now to wait on the key for the safe. Am wondering what is inside. Even if there is nothing in it, it is handy to have a safe when camping. Did some interior decorating in my Dutch ex-army...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The seal in the transfercase is fixed last saturday. The transercase lost almost no fluid, so that was a big plus. The seal just went bad, for as far we could see. I did have to change it out myself, but hey, saved me a lot of euro's in labor costs.

Thank you for the response. Yes, I know using the 4wd on the road is a big no-no. Well, maybe the shaft has a little play, could hear some weird vibration noise in regular intervals at 50-55mph. When I changed it, I could not see any damage, but in my defense, I was struggling on a cart under...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

After coming home from a quick visit to my friend, noticed tiny drops of oil on the tailgate. A moment later, also a small puddle op fluid under the truck. Seems like the seal of the transfercase started leaking. Output seal to the front wheels that is. I changed it 7 months ago, now the...
