Looking for input designing a way to mount a very, very big window

The insulating issue is an easier fix than removing a bearing part of a wall and replacing it with a window. However, I think if the structure is built well with a strong header, sill, hurricane grade slider and a solid outside cover that overlaps the slider frame it may work. It does get windy...

Looking for input designing a way to mount a very, very big window

Awesome an idea. I had pictured a custom piece of glass that flexes. Much like an office window in a high rise, they can flex a little. But the slider is a beauty. It would serve two purposes, a killer view and exit/entry. If the camper is on a trailer, then I'd have room to store a wooden stair...

    Go Big Or Go Home

Why post a customers rig with how many hours you have into it? At $25hr and 288hrs spent, I could pay you $7,200 plus tax to have that just in labor alone? Or is your labor rate higher than that?

Looking for input designing a way to mount a very, very big window

After seeing the articulation pics, the spring setup is certainly helping. I've been wondering if I should do a box on the back of the truck or a trailer setup. Do you think a trailer with a special hitch that allowed 360 degree movement like the Hitch-Ezy (Australian) would prevent a need to...

    Mounting a Craig box on a 923-a2

That is a nice camper setup you have. I like the design you came up with to keep the box from articulating less and how it was illustrated. Without the buffering of body twist, over time the box may start to leak in the rain depending on how the craig box is built.

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Do you mean replacing the battery fixed the non-start problem?

Looking for input designing a way to mount a very, very big window

Interesting. How did your uncle mount the box in order to let the frame flex below it?

Looking for input designing a way to mount a very, very big window

I'm planning a camper build on or behind a BMY M925A2. The idea is to work in the country in a camper that is mounted to the bed of the truck or on a trailer. The idea I'd like help with is mounting a window to enjoy the vast mountain views while sitting at a desk in front of a computer in the...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

You probably nailed one issue, the squeaking belt. I'd handle the low hanging fruit and replace the fuel filter if that hasn't been done since you've had the truck and as stated, replace the batteries. Here is an off-the-cuff wild guess on the remaining problems, if the engine was starving of...

Considering a M927 or M928 to live in...

I'm looking to do the same as the OP. You make some good points. As far as putting money in that will never come back out, paying rent has the same impact. You never get that rent money back. If a person plans to spend 4 years in college, buys a $17k rig, lives in it through college and the...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Push on the belts with your finger to measure play. Measure from the resting point to the stop point (you don't need much finger force). Then check the spec to see how much play there should be. I don't know what the spec is, guessing less than an inch?

    12v battery bank + 3000w inverter

Some things to consider is temperature and plan how long you expect the batteries to last before they die and spend accordingly. I live out in the country and use a laptop for work. If my inverter goes out, its as devastating as a broken stove. In the winter, its been as cold as 9F and I...

HanksDeuce - Installing an Ouverson Locker in your Rockwell Axle

Nice detail. How much do you think you saved by doing the work yourself?

    Looking at buying 5 ton

I have my eye on the market as a base for an off-road camper for my 1st military vehicle. Been looking at serious problems where serious would be defined as costing thousands in repair or a problem I don't want to deal with (or don't trust anyone to fix). If you find a turbo engine, check for...

    Choosing a 5-ton truck

Forcing a downshift is good w/in reason to save the brakes or keep them cool enough to work well. In regards to upshifting if the gear selector in the automatic (Allison for example) is in 1 and you nail the throttle and hold it to the floor until the engine explodes (hypothetically speaking)...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

It could be more than one problem fuel starvation (as mentioned) and low voltage from the alternator. The belt screeching could be from the alternator pulley slipping. The alternator may have moved and caused slack in the belt or the bearing might be freezing up. What is the battery voltage?

    Choosing a 5-ton truck

Check out this M109. Bad-to-the-bone. Good looking camo. The roof rack is a nice touch. I like how it seems like it holds gear. Maybe its a manual? Do the automatics hold gear like that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foK38NIBjPk&index=2&list=PLp3aI8CjU1uGUHOtL9xby864TLb10CLon

    Choosing a 5-ton truck

Profo has a nice rig indeed. I like how he focused on the whole shebang. Michael is said to be an artist and it shows in his rig. I think what he did would be so awesome to have out here in the country. Much like a rolling log cabin where you are comfortable in the inside, step outside in the...
