That vid in your link puts some perspective on these trucks off-road that I haven't watched in a vid before. Your truck had some immensly low gears. Is it a manual? That thing could crawl something serious.
The setup Valence had is appealing. Those cargo truck beds are spacious. The close-up...
I'll keep that in mind. The idea of having a trailer and cargo truck is big. Plenty of room to haul fuel barrels, generator, water tank(s), recovery gear, traction to cross deep questionable washouts and a free-weight set separate from the living and work quarters. The offroading would be to get...
The M934A2 is attractive for the real-estate and price (and not limited to), but it may not be as mobile in the rough country as I need it to be. You make a great point about getting stuck. That will be a problem not having a recovery method. Maybe jacks and blocks would help in some cases.
In...
It can't be that hard if someone who is new to air brakes but is mechanically inclined and experienced wants to do the work. All you'd need to do is fully understand the interconnected systems, learn the procedures to accomplish what you want and have the proper tools before attempting to...
Sounds like there would be a trade off in living and office space vs. off-road capability.
I dug up this Moab run with the tractor supporting what I hear you say. This guy makes it look easy with his driving skills. Watching him drive up is so awesome, like the truck is hardly phased.
There is...
I'm researching the M934A2 as a camper and want the big truck for its value and off-road capabilities (but not limited to). I'm looking to find out how much the box on the back reduces its off-road capabilities by asking those in the know to compare it with something concrete, like this youtube...
Breaking bad was a **** of a TV show. But now I when I see a similar RV in the desert, I fight the urge to profile. Its amazing how much influence Hollywood has on our perception in life. I live in the country and I don't give a [blank] what people think. I care how I'm treated and how our...
True. It would be hard to feed while sleeping.
Below is a heater that runs on diesel with a direct current fan (choice of 12V/24V/36V). It has a water coil to heat water. Maybe radient flooring or to keep a battery pack warm. The Antarctic version has two water coils.
Fuel Consumption / 24hr...
What do you plan to do for heat? I have been toying with the idea of a wood pellet stove for heat. According to the Gov, using wood pellets vs propane is a lot cheaper. I just haven't found a stove small enough.
This is interesting information. I want to drive a 5-ton into the country (Nevada), work on my laptop and make money under a business (licensed in NV). Because I would be making money, the state wants a commercial drivers license. Does that sound right?
I will if you will. It was just an analogy.
There is nothing dirty about what I said....unless you have a perception of "dirty fingers". :D Mine are as clean as a whistle. I don't want to know about yours.
That sounds pretty cool. Propane is pretty expensive so you'd save there.
I'd like to do solar too and would have enough space to stow panels and then set them out in the sun when setting up camp.
I haven't seen those videos, its hard to watch some of them were the video is so narrow its like...
I'm a freelance software developer and I'll be building software (tools) and living in it on public and government land like BLM and National Forests moving every 2 weeks. The trailer vs motorhome is hard because the motorhome would work better in dense forests and the trailer would work better...
Massive. Impressive. I like that rig.
I haven't owned a camper truck before, but hear frequently driving the truck is "unstable" because of wind(?) even w/full size trucks. Hence the pop-up camper to keep the height down. With that big rig you have and the camper on back, I'm curios if "you...
