    Generator AUX fuel connections

The system which powers the aux fuel pump has a low level turn on, and high level shutoff. 1/2 a tank won't activate either. If you get below a quarter tank, you will hear it kick on at some point, in the PRIME + AUX setting. I don't recall the exact level (it can actually be manipulated, by...

    Aftermarket MEP-803 alternators

I have rebuilt OEMs available (as well as a takeout from a parts machine that has not been tested yet) if you were interested.

Fuses? We Don't Need no Stinking Fuses!

Why waste all that time changing out fuses? This is PROGRESS by modern definitions!

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

Radiators are becoming pluck and chuck, like the rest of the world... easier to justify when less folks are willing to get into trades and learn hard skills.

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

I agree even at 600... thats an expensive part! Its custom, and low volume... two things working against good price.

What do I have, plus converting to 120v. New guy here.

Thats what I would do, run an inverter. Make the best out of what you have, for the least amount of additional $.

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

To be honest with the way the world is headed, I am not just concerned with parts availability, but the larger geopolitical concerns of having to run machines like this for an extended duration, under significant societal stress events. Won't go too off the rails here, but I'm pretty sure folks...

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

I am sure dimensionally one could be found, but then it would come down to the fill neck being workable (the stock location and angle sucks, but its what works for the configuration), the upper and lower hose locations being the same, and the mounting (which is special on this, to work with the...

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

My hope is to find someone to produce them around the $600 mark, which is still high for what it is... but it is a custom build for the platform.

    MEP-802/3 Radiators

A few folks have reached out to me over the last six months, looking for replacement radiators for their gensets. These items are very rare at the surplus/auction site level that I have seen and experienced, but are pretty important to these machines long term upkeep (and use when needed)...

What makes the MEP Generators EMP proof

From older DRS documentation, they were tested against both "MIL-STD-461 Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) limits as well as MIL-STD-2169 High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HAEMP) requirements". This might be a slightly newer variant (C or D, compared to perhaps the original... which is not...

What coolant & for MEP-802a? Precharged nitrite type or just green heavy duty type?

Thanks for the info. I run Prestone premix these days, but it's good info for folks looking. Save where you can these days!

803a Oil Leak after new seal ?

Its a pain in the ass to change out the $8 seal, but they can dry crack or just be faulty at the time of manufacture. I believe they are prone to fatigue with heat/cold cycles too. Not a bad part to have on the shelf. I've probably had to swap out 3 or so over the years, so definitely not a high...

    NEW TO MEPs-802 GENS

Supposed to, and can, are different beasts... but clearly its inherently safer to keep it as CECOM says with like sets to remove one less bad decision waiting to happen.

    NEW TO MEPs-802 GENS

I'm pretty sure you can use the fender box with mixed Genset sizes... It's just a matter of knowing the amperage being drawn at the time of changeover. Safety dictates that the gensets be equally sized to take any chance out of an overload situation upon changeover... But someone with a solid...

Fair price on Two MEPs ?

If you are willing to pay that price, its a fair price.
