Mep803a Cranks but won't turn over

I would start by taking your batteries out to a local auto store and have them both tested. If you dont have 24+ volts, your machine isn't going to do much of anything. They can show surface voltage, but can fail under load to almost zero amps. If you have not downloaded the TMs for this set...

    A little known MEP fact

At least you shouldn't have to change out the shutter switch for another 36 years ;)

    Craig tulls drawing (003A)

Would be nice to see @rustystud back around these parts.

    MEP806B crank no start

I have no seat time with this set, but have you followed this flow chart for the machine (found in the -24 manual here: https://steelsoldiers.com/threads/manuals-for-the-mep-806b.173099/)

    Pick-up/speed sensor MEP-805B

I would redownload all of the manuals for your machine here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/all-the-tms-you-need-to-work-on-the-mep-805b-generator-set.173097/ Each one does different things... lubrication order, operating manual, technical troubleshooting, exploded parts diagrams, etc...

    Pick-up/speed sensor MEP-805B

If you are unfamiliar with how the TMs work on these sets, see the info below for your machine: #2 call out for the MPU Few pages later in the same book: Part number on the item you need is MSP675C... which should tie back to Governors America...

    Pick-up/speed sensor MEP-805B

Have you looked through the -24P manual for this particular machine, to ascertain either an NSN or a manufacturer number? Would help your search greatly.

    Mep-803 -S1 switch broke

Yeah always good to know the shortcuts. For those who are unaware, the pinout on the S1 is located in the -24 wiring layout. Attached below:

    Mep-803 -S1 switch broke

    You beat my edit (y)

    Mep-803 -S1 switch broke

If Jaime doesn't have any spare S1s, I do. Good luck getting it going right now. If your switch is stuck at the prime and run position, you could probably mechanically hold open the fuel shutdown solenoid (zip tie, etc) while using the dead crank to get it going, and quickly flip the dead...

Replacement knob / attachment for "88-21902" meter selector?

Its possible that Kraus & Naimer can sell you parts... but you would need to reach out. I might have a unit I can cannibalize from here, I would have to look today or tomorrow.

    MEP-802A Voltage regulator question.

Depending on your acquisition price, an easier option (if funds are available) is to reach out to @wheelspinner. He has/had complete LPW2s in his posession that I believe were looking for a good home. Might be easier to just replace with a working unit and move own with life instead of a...

    A little known MEP fact

May it rain LNG for you there, and everyone has buckets to collect it. MEP wasn't finished... but not bad for a days work.

    A little known MEP fact

Smoking chicken thighs while wrenching makes the job easier. Happy Friday everyone.

    MEP-802A Voltage regulator question.

The engine should freely spin by the fan blade, or with a socket, if the belt isn't properly tightened. Cheap insurance... also pay attention to if the yellow flywheel can be seen rotating at the same time as the engine. It is not unheard of to have bolts shear at this coupling.

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Id say more 803s than 802s, but thats because they have historically been more well known/popular/sought after... but plenty of each. If I think about it though, its probably more than 2:1. I honestly only pulled the cap on this one as a customer request and the oil blew out 10' behind me (as...

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

I haven'trun it for a few months, but I gave it a multi hour load bank run with ATF in the case to try to unstick anything... didn't seem to change anything. Just haven't gotten back to it. I don't recall anything abnormal with it in terms of starting. It actually ran very well, and made rated...

    MEP-804A Diode Ring Destroyed

It has a lift ring on it right? Got any neighbors with tractors/forks that you could slide a single fork into the cabinet and hook a chain?

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

I've got an 802 here that is a leafblower of oil out of the oil fill. Im wondering if I am dealing with a bent push rod, bent exhaust valve, demonic possession all on the table at this point.

    MEP-804A Diode Ring Destroyed

Google Delk's Surplus Sales in NC. They may have a machine which they can separate for you.
