Does anyone know the history of which tan for the deuce? When and what branch of the service or even where (conflict) it was used? From what I have researched, the 686a Tan is the latest, FS33446, but the trucks painted that color look lighter. Look at benni72 and zak's photos. The charts look...

I have a deuce that would like to turn tan,but I don't know which tan. 686a looks like it should be the current color from what I've read but it looks dark. Here is a chart that I found, this (FS numbers) along with the website will...
I don't think anyone ever did order the connectors and sell them to the group. I need some for a project that I am doing now and thinking about ordering a few hundred dollars worth and reselling what I don't need. Any interest? My thought is, selling 10 sets or so at a time. I would charge a...
When I was planning my bobbed Deuce I thought this would be a great way to go. I knew I was starting from nothing. My thought was it would be lighter and handle anything from a light load to a heavy load with comfort. Hendrickson has a unit made for rescue trucks and I was thinking this was the...
I am getting ready to paint my deuce. I want to go with Tan but don't know what color tan. I have looked at the Tan 686, FS 33446 and the FS 33722. One seems too dark and the other too light. My son is in the Navy and thinks it's the lighter one that they are using now but they don't have any...
Has anyone used the lower rated filter? If you were useing it and there was a problem wouldn't the air filter warning tell us it needed to be changed? I would guess that as either filter got dirty we could have a problem and the one with a lower rating may have a problem first.
I have briefly thought about trailers and 12v hookups also. As many have suggested, if you always tow with the 24v truck just change the bulbs. That being said, I have seen some post by some of you radio and electronic brains out there, could one of you design a converter we could build and use...
They are heavy! They weigh about 2700lbs. You will need brakes. If you are towing with a deuce you can just connect the air line for the brakes. If I was going to tow with a p/up I think I would look at mobil home axles with elec brakes. Keeping the old springs you may need to fab spring...
John, I was kicking the tires of this good looking truck between my place in Buffalo and your place in Ephratah and the owner of that truck, Dave, told me the story of the xm381. He even showed me some photos. His truck had tennis elbow for the air intake and welded up wide wheels. Good looking...
There are always lots of questions (and answers) about Bobbed Deuces on Steelsoldiers, which is great, because I am building one. Most of the questions end up in Hot Rod Deuces. Should we have our own forum?
RE: Re: RE: Rims
I just had 5 broken down. The guy wanted 3 sixpacks. Cool! They do make it look easy! Some of the large truck tire shops also refinish wheels. For about $25 they shotblast the wheel to white metal and then powder coat it. Many colors, but I haven't found OD yet. You could get...
Check this website out. http://www.karmustang.com/power_steering_kit.php They show parts for a mustang, but there were a few that used this type of system. What kind of car are you converting?
