The MD CDL booklet, Section 1.1.1, states "you will be required to take the air brake knowledge test if your vehicle has air brakes, even air over hydraulic brakes" The Fed says "The presence of air brakes alone does not make it a CDL class vehicle." The 26001lbs does, though.
