That's a very very interesting question!
As a rule, even though I'm in a locked yard, I don't like to keep more than a quarter tank, to limit any potential loss. (Get a locking tank cap? Seriously!?!? That would presume that I can plan further than the end of my nose! :-P)
I had just over 1/8...
I checked all the fluids about a month ago, and do a walk-around while the engine is warming to check for obvious leaks and haven't seen anything.
In late October, the truck went right from the JBLM yard to a respected local truck mechanic in Lakewood for a complete head-to-toe review. It got...
tl;dr ... something broke, I need seem guidance/advice.
M923A0, 24K miles and 29 hours on the clock (I presume since rebuild, but I don't know if it was a major or minor rebuild).
The weather is finally starting to cooperate where I can count on a few hours of dryness to do some work.
Bright...
I'm brand new to this hobby and I know I'm smart enough to know when I'm not smart enough ... if you know what I mean. ;-}
I won a M923 back in October, but pretty much just parked it once I got it home awaiting for the New Year so I could title it as a collector vehicle.
It's stored a few...
It's a question of time. I might be a bit naive, but I ***thought*** blasting would be faster than sanding down to bare metal, especially since I'm going to be able to put in a half day here and there over a bunch of months getting it all ship-shape.
I hear ya about the decent weather! I've got all my gear ready to do some spot blasting/painting but every time I have a day off ... deluge!!! :lol:
And thanks for the heads-up about not being able to tow a 3/4 ton. Any idea what type of trailer I should be on the lookout for?
This is great info, thank you!!! I just bought a big ol' compressor thinking that I'd be either blasting or painting with it ... now I can do both. ;-}
I'm also inclined to blast it, but there's not a place close by to pay to do it, and if I want to rent the gear and try it myself, I've got to find some place indoors to store it and work on it! ;-}
As with FZRider, I posted this a day or so before the thread got closed but I'm still interested in the info.
When I recovered the vehicle I found a documents binder in the rig that hinted it was at some time part of the Oregon NG.
Thanks for the assistance.

Sorry I missed the parade.
Best laid plans of mice & men ***some one*** - more than likely me but I'm gonna pretend it was gremlins!!! :p - left the battery switch on yesterday and when I went to power on this morning ... nothing!!! :-(
Fun time lifting these four batteries out all by my...
Hello to all!
Leave it to me to get a big truck right before the rainy season starts. (Honest! We do have Sun in the PNW!!! Just not in November. ;-))
I've read through a bunch of the threads so I kinda sorta have a feel for the various general options, but I'm looking for some specific...
Can you give me a general idea on how long this event lasts? I really want to participate, but I've unfortunately got a work thing I need to be back in Redmond for at 1:45pm. If it typically wraps up no later than noon ... I'd have buckets of time to make it back!
Hello to all!
I won a M923 auction from Ft. Lewis. I did a post-purchase inspection and the lights are questionable (hopefully just operator error!) and the wipers do not activate.
Better safe than sorry, I'm planning on having it towed some place for a short time (1-2 weeks) until I can work...
