Just spent some time on the phone with Bill Watson, he is back home and doing well. He did want to thank everybody for the cards and e-mails, and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.
Bill's been working hard locating new suppliers for mule parts and he's hoping to be able to announce some really...

Here's a link to an article on an A5 that I did for the Veteran's museum last year, including swaping in a gen set long block, this will give you an idea what's involved. Not too hard, I've done several.

I thought about checking with Bill and David to see if they had an old transmission case that was not usable that could be used to build a stand like Darryl built. I think I will see if I can find one.
I use a standard engine stand when I am working on an engine, but there is no room for the flywheel.
I think something like Darryl D's VW test stand would work great.
Read more about how he built his test stand here: http://www.darrylsgarage.com/912/912.htm
If your mule has 4WS, be careful running aggressive tires on hard surfaces. Since there are no spider gears in the differentials, the tires must be able to slip. If the tires can't slip something has to give, and it's usually the front axle pinion gear
Our club in Alabama also made a pitch for the 2010 convention for Huntsville, Alabama, but looks like the MVPA board selected Denver, Colorado...good luck, guys.
That's an early 4-cylinder mule, no lifting rings on the hubs, and you can see the right side muffler. Very strange to see both a USMC registration number AND an Army registration number.........

Things usually start to wind down after lunch on Saturday, littlebob, so if you are not planning to be there until 1:30, you'll...

I really enjoyed the show, Saturday was nice and cool, and the place dried up well after the rain Friday afternoon, even though Rod's awning didn't survive the wind & rain too well! Met a lot of mule peiople and made a lot of contacts. We'll be back next year, but don't know if we will ever...
Rod, Bobby and I took a load of mules over to the Peachtree City, GA show to display. Interesting reactions on I-20!
