Ya, I would think that if the truck is gonna see any serious time on public highways your better off looking for a more capable truck. I could see exceptions to this for specialized situations where the truck was used largely ( or entirely) off road.
That being said anything is possible but if...
Wrong side of the country! I think it'd be a long drive home.
Neat looking truck. Sure would be fun to pick up some 20' sticks of rebar and have them fit in the bed!
I would be curious if a smaller shop could provide a lower initial start up cost. Im not familiar with a 5 ton lockout hub, I'd be curious to see a parts breakdown. The more info that could be provided to a shop the lower the cost. There's some pretty serious 4x4 shops with the capability to...
I don't have a 5 ton to say for sure but I bet somewhere the exhaust has a low point and the water collects there. If the truck doesn't ever run it'll stay there till it rusts out/evaporates. If the truck runs it probably will evap/blow out next time it starts.
I'd cover it if I were you.
I believe these are very similar to the 5.9 motors in that mods are available and there's lots of cheap/free hp to be had with the rights stuff. Some guys get crazy hp out of those little 5.9's too, so with the right mods I bet that 8.3 will go just fine.
To expand on this topic, I'm curious what tools everyone uses when working on their MV's. I have the basic sockets and wrenches, are there tools that are frequently used and somewhat specific to these trucks?
As far as tools to carry everyday I'm a fan of the basics: med kit, flares, tire...
You mean m870?
Aspen makes some neat stuff, is that trailer overwidth? It looks wide, and the red rag hanging on the side caught my eye.
I'm sure with a heavy haul trailer you may have some leveling options to help with the increased payload and hitch height.
Slightly ot but he's done the same with almost every piece of equipment imaginable. Very good source of info.
As for the m911, what's the tare weight vs one of those newer heavy haul trucks?
So those numbers are a current manufacturer? Or the company that supplied them to the mil?
I would think the big surplus shops will all have the seals.
I don't know man. Seems kinda iffy. I'd much rather see you bolt the lunette to the trailer.
Remember you have 600 miles to go. That's like 12 hours of driving minimum. 12 hours of bumps and vibration. If that truck breaks loose it's gonna cost you far more then properly setting up the trailer...
