    Batteries for M818

All I know is new optimas are not like the ones from 10+ years ago. If your looking for an AGM type battery look at deka's intimidator line. Same price roughly, made in the us and have great reviews.

This is sorta off topic but I see your in Hillsboro. I'm on the edge of sw Portland so I always like seeing another ss member in the area. No od for me yet but I'm getting close. If you ever need a hand drop me a line, I'd love to see your project. Jared

    M818 Brake System service

A lot if the tm's and lo's can be found under the "resources" tab at the top of this page. I'm not 100% sure which number the 5 ton service manual is, but most have descriptions. Good luck!

    Transfer Case PTO

Never owned a vehicle with a PTO (and still dont) but i have a question about them and this seems like a good place to ask: What is the difference (in use) between a transfer case pto and say a transmission pto? I assume they vary on when they can be engaged but im not really sure. Thanks, Jared

towing info for the bigger trucks

Like for towing? the front glad hands provide air for the entire system, rear included. If you can not provide air then the brakes need to be caged.

serious discussion of 5-ton speed increase via gearing (transmission, differential)

Ya, I remember reading the outputs are flipped. Don't they also have a tendency to break? I would be curious to see what three new sets of gears would run. A lot I'm sure, but how much? 500 a set? 1k a set?

Flipping hubs on M813 - are in/out wheel bearings the same?

It works and I'm sure there are lots of pics on the forum of other members flipped hubs. Not sure if you noticed this thread was from 2006, 4 years ago...

    Making a Wo/W into a W/W

I've heard there is no cross reference for this pto so your stuck finding that exact tranny in a civi app, which I've heard is rare. Not sure on applications in the civi world, someone else may have more info. This is all hearsay though, so take it with a grain of salt

    Pineville LA assistance M920

Baby got a new pair of shoes!

This intrigues me. Have never driven an air braked trailer setup, wouldn't a proportioning valve of some sort make sense? In your example i would think the trailers brakes are getting beat on pretty good because they are going to try and slow the truck down before the trucks brakes have a chance...

    big 6x6 truck questions

You can, i think the wheels typically used are actually a touch on the small side. I think Reb87 posted a thread talking about fitting 16x20's vs the standard wheels.
