I only mounted it up over this weekend. I am probably going to reinforce the backside with some flat stock, to spread the load even more. I hate plastic things, especially when they are for mounting. Might also put a couple L brackets under the bottom of this device, bolted through the door...
Great to hear. Whole mess went off in the last two days. If I didnt already have two, I would have been bidding (some of those units have the remote control box... which would be nice to have).
Correct. This company makes models that will provide 12V for up to 4 batteries simultaneously. So this unit supplies up to 4A to each unit, which is fine for standby use. The power entry cord is rated for 13A, so we are under the safe level on it too. And amazon has the **** charger for $85...
Thanks. Hopefully it sparks an idea in others about ways to add devices to their machines in 'unconventional' ways. Maybe down the line I will look into additional protection. Where mine is positioned, the fuel tank end is close to a building, so direct UV is minimized. It had only been in place...
OK, so not reinventing the wheel here... but I got my 802 squared away today. I have some more work to do (I only had 3/4" SS machine screws for mounting, I'll probably get some 1" at the store at some point... and I will probably add a little bit of wire management into the mix to get the...
For sure, its strange that the bigger machine is quieter... but thats the reality. I figure thats more amperage (ie more fuel) than is required. But the 803s sure are smooth runners.
My quick average of the last 20 802As sold through GovPlanet was just over 1500, before any GP 10% fee, local sales tax, freight, etc. This was exclusive of condition, simply what they last ones sold averaged out at.
Also you will want to check the wires on the temp sending unit (and especially where they are crimped to their fitting). Could simply be that it all LOOKS good, but you aren't getting continuity due to a poor connection there. All three wires in a photo you showed me appeared to be under...
Yeah the operating noise is the killer on those, not the exhaust. Bullet proof machines though. I would suggest you look for the equivalent machine to that, the MEP-802A. Thats probably going to be your quietest option of the group, and give you the amperage you require.
Do you mean an MEP-002A then? Air cooled? Libby did produce the MEP-802A for a short while, before Fermont took over their contract.

Liquid Cooled =...
Does this machine have the quad fuse mod? If you aren't familiar... look it up here on the forum, and seriously consider installing it before you turn it over again.
Spoke with the manufacturer today. On this model it is fine to keep all hooked up and run, but its imperative to unplug the charging device or it may cause an overvoltage situation (where its trying to charge the battery, while the alternator is trying to as well...).
