How many hours are on the unit? If its under 100, keep the break in oil in the machine. Obviously if its like 90 hours... its probably OK to dump if you want something else.
If this unit was preserved, it probably had a special 'oil' put into this... or it might not have. Never can tell with little accountability.
I would personally fill it up with water, and let it run for a while to get up to temp, then drain. I would then repeat with a radiator flush+cleaner...
You can get battery acid from any parts store CapePrep. For my money, Id sell those unused batteries to someone else and put a nice set of AGM batteries in its place. They are fine batteries, but here in New England... the machines will demand more in the colder months, and I feel the AGMs are...
Do you have a generator hookup on your home already? If so, its probably 30A... which is exactly what the max output is basically of an 802A. The 803A will require either a hardwire, or a 50A interlock.
I live life well with a 5k personally.
What do you want a backup generator for, when you really think about it? Do you need every last amenity in your home to work during a power outage, or do you need your lights, heat, tv, etc to ride it out? An 802 is a fine machine for those who have less draw needs, or those who simply want less...
Good point on the duration of run. I have stayed away from the 804s because I didn't see much value to the homeowner/small business segment (all single phase requirement). Maybe I should reconsider, with the caveat known.
Well since I can't attach a picture to a private message, thought I would post it up here. Clarification for all in the future.. 802 and 803 (and surely many other sizes) use the same fuel filler drop in neck. Tan unit is from an 803. Green from an 802 :)
Might get warned by PM, but these arent links to individual auctions, so we'll see. But click on both and pick your poison (the stuff through GL the last 6 months has been real poor quality, all in all).
Very true. I wanted to get some meat & potatoes answers for the betterment of the collective knowledge being documented in each thread (for future 'search tool' users).
So thought I would pick this up. I have an 802 that has part of the solenoid in place (it appears they stole the front bracketry from this set, and trashed the boot as well). I have a donor unit that I can scab this off of, but is there anything I need to know about the install? It looks like a...
Ive got an 802 that some pig must have maintained (up and above a leaky fuel issue). Whole side is coated in oil (filter side). Will probably have to wait till the spring to clean it up, but I was thinking about maybe just coating in mineral spirits, letting soak, and rubbing it all down to see...
