Go look through the history over the last 2 months through GP on 803s... both rolling stock and non (but especially non). Prices are higher here in the northeast by simple supply/demand/cost to bring in.... but 4k is definitely a bargain for a 200hr machine right now, resale.
Machines used to be cheap (or inexpensive, rather)... I feel those days are behind now for good though. Just a bit under 2 years ago I got a preserved machine (97 803A) under 100 hours for $800 out of MCLB Albany. And that wasn't out of the ordinary.
Good luck in your searching. You might want to spend some quality time with that 802. You might find that you dont really need the 803. Especially when prices are sky high (I mean, look at this beauty and what it went for just a few days ago!). Madness reigns.
Did you find the breaker reset, just behind the 'idiot light panel'? If so, did it solve your issue? You should wrap up threads you start, with any resolution you do come to. It will help folks who search in the future, to see if the advice given solved problems or not. :)
Talk about completely unneeded attitude. I thought the same thing as robson, and not once looked at your join date (or post count). I am sure whomever gets the privilege to work on your equipment will love your magnetic attitude.
Hoping to get a few more folks to chime in. No one else has ever thought about it? How about louvers over the radiator? Seems to be it would provide greater overall rigidity, as well as help in keeping rain and debris out (at least directionally). And I mean... who doesn't like louvers?
I...
Have you snagged all of the different manuals for this set? They all are used for different things. There is a -10, a -24, a -24P, as well as a -24 and a -24P for the engine itself.
The -10 is basically operating instructions. The -24 is is for diagnosis/testing/maintenance. The -24P has all of...
I wonder why the military chose to go with the exact square size and configuration for the sheet metal roof on these sets (the perforated area over the radiator on 802/803, etc). I always see set that have distortion here both from regular use, but also from abuse.
At the end of the day, the...
Congrats on taking delivery. I find Group 51R batteries fit quite well for both 802 (OEM spec) and 803s, with standard tie downs. Tractor Supply has the best price I have found on that group size: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/exide-classic-auto-truck-suv-battery-51rc
My local store...
Actually that is what I would do too, but just make sure its replaced with the right, as Daybreak called out. Guess only 7 of 8 cylinders were firing for me yesterday...
Absolutely would not hurt to do, just be careful that you account for all nuts and bolts. Would hate to drop something in the gen head and forget. Earlier sets have nuts on the bolts that run down the middle of the machine (over the seam where the two top roof sheetmetal pieces meet). Later sets...
If it truly has 6 hours, keep the break in oil in place, and run it for the full 100 they ask. It has special characteristics that a brand new engine needs to properly seat everything. They 'preserve' the cooling system so it won't degrade while sitting.
