    M1009 - Fuel delivery problem?

J code 6.2 is actually around 165 hp and around 285 ft/lb of torque. Civilian model, C code, is 125-135 hp. J code has higher compression and no emissions junk. Your problem sounds like a lack of fuel. Change fuel filter first. Cheap and relatively easy. Get a fuel additive. I am using...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

I just got some Rage Ultra from my cousins body shop for free. It is a night and day difference between the Rage and the Bondo brand. Applies easier and smoother and sands much better. Thanks for the tip. When is the glazing putty used and what are it's benefits? Thanks

Fill drilled holes in m1009 roof

I believe the 3m epoxy was 2500-3000 psi. I would go with a 3m or permatex or versachem brand. The loctite Tinstsr suggested would be great too. If you are good at welding, that would be the best option to fill the holes. I am not, so I went with the epoxy.

Fill drilled holes in m1009 roof

I just went through this myself. The metal is thin and there are two layers. so welding it can be tricky. It can warp. My family runs a body shop. So we ground off surrounding paint and epoxied the holes shut. Tape was applied inside to catch any flow through. We used a 3m fast cure epoxy and...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Speaking of in a hurry. I was painting side covers for my 82 Kawasaki 750 a few years ago, and I wanted the paint to dry quickly so I could apply another coat. So I came up with the great idea of curing the paint in my oven at low temp. Not my best idea either. I ended up with deformed side...

CUCV hot wire and steering lock

If ignition cylinder has not been changed previously, then any cucv key could work. They were all the same. Don't know if you have a buddy with a cucv that would let you try his key to unlock steering wheel. That would be easiest! If that won't work, you will need a puller to remove wheel from...

What spray gun do you use to paint with? Any type or brand you prefer? I just got a Binks 15 for $80. It has a new cup too! I have put it to work this last week. Keep up the good work!

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Where and how do you get a USA plate? Never heard of them. Pretty cool though! I bought a generic license plate light that needs two 1/8 holes for mounting and maybe a 1/4 in hole for the wires. Got it at oreily auto parts. It is an optronics led mini license plate light. Have not installed yet...

What brand of paint t did you use? Do you know what the paint code was? That 1009 looks great! I am approaching getting my 1008 painted and am trying to get the right paint code for the body shop. I know federal standard 34094 is the original code. We tried looking it up on the paint mixing...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

My dad said moth balls will keep mice out. Cheaper than an ozone machine. But ozone can kill bacteria and I assume viruses as well. High concentrations of it can be harmful, if a lot is inhaled. Ozone is why the air smells so fresh after a thunderstorm. The lightning creates ozone.

mechanical fuel pump removal on 6.2L

My fuel pump went out early spring and I replaced it with a Carter pump. I noticed it was different than the OEM one at the time. It is still working for now. I read how you said they were selling the wrong pumps. Which is the right one and where can you get it? I remember you talked about a...

Where do you get it? If I could put something down on the floor pan first would be great. Thanks

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Mine has the anti skid coating on floor. As of now there is little to no rust on this truck. None in floor pan. IIhave one small spot on driver cab corners where a plug fell out and some dirt got in. Whenever I get money to build a shop the m1008 will be in there, and I have our cars in my...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just took the tar paper and felt padding from my k5 and am putting in m1008. It is factory GM stuff. The k5 is very rusty no rockers left or cab corners, but when I pulled the carpet, floor pan was in good condition. That is after years of a leaky windshield and constant moisture in floor board...

Yes I agree. I have a k5 too and you can barely see the gauges at night. I only switched the three backlighting bulbs with LEDs bc they were $7 a pop at Walmart. O'Reilly wanted 12$. Definitely worth the $20 if you already have instrument cluster out.
