Another question I forgot to ask. When the brakes do fail on a M35 do they fail open or closed (locked)? I know on a lot of military trailers with airbrakes the air supplied keeps the brakes open so you can tow it and they fail in the closed (brakes on) position, so no air and you're just...
Based on recommendations I've decided to go with an aftermarket tank and build a custom box. This way I'm not limited to the tank size and shape based on a jobsite box and I can vent the battery section as well. Also by going with a non metal fuel tank I can avoid any issues with rust...
The tank is being relocated along with the batteries to the bed so they are up away from any obstacles and also up out of the water when fording. The idea of the jobbox is that allows a place for them to be locked, centered at the front of the bed so that it can be filled from either side...
I was looking to relocate the 50gal stock M35A2 fuel tank into a jobsite box in the bed of the deuce.
My question: Is there an alternate tank that people have tried, possibly plastic vs the steel?
2nd Question: If there is a plastic version does it accept the stock fuel pump or will that...
First question, I have a 1970 Air Force M35A2 (the army in army70deuce is because I'm ARMY). Is there a really easy way to tell if I've got an upgraded dual circuit system?
Second Question, Do I really need a dual circuit system, the military didn't see it as an issue for decades, and my...
Ok, here's a way to make everyone happy, have the flag flying wait for a good breeze and get a shot of its flying sideways covering her, you'd have to take a whole bunch of photos to find one where it covered but it would be an interesting picture. Oh and have the deuce somewhere in the background
Check out this idea. It's what I'm going to do to mine. His is a bobbed truck but the same idea could be used in a full sized deuce. Also adds the ability to lock things up. I plan on doing this with 2x 48inch boxes, one for the fuel tank and the other for batteries and tools...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm starting the thread to get a headcount and general location of members in SC. Nick names are acceptable. I'm hoping this will aid in any planned SC get togethers.

My 2cents worth, I had a "friend" with a deuce who took it to a buddy's shop took a picture of it in the shop and got haggarty insurance and then parked it in his barn at his farm (no door let alone lock). The insurance keeps you legal for driving, are you really ever going to put in a claim on...
My 2cents worth, just get a full deuce off auction for $2,500 and sell the last axle if you want a 4x4, it'll be cheaper and the extra money goes towards accessories. I know EUCs are a pain, but you might come out better that way.
Great work on the trailer, and while I don't know what the paint would look like I recommend a giant C-130 on the side. Been riding in those a bunch lately, glad to know we have such hard workers keeping them flying and in good shape. Appreciate the hard work.
Mudguppy thanks for the awesome info, so here's my question, if I decide to run the pump off of the engine via belt instead of the PTO then I'll have a 1:1 ratio as well so the pump you chose should work fine with my multifuel that idles at 950-1,000rpm??
Thanks for the great info gentlemen, this will help with my switching from PTO to Hydraulic powered winch on my M35A2, I've been told the torque needs to be around 1,000 in/lbs
I'm not going to say your wrong but the RPMs seem alittle high to me. So check my assumptions and we'll see if I'm missing something...if the Engine idles at 1000rpm and the transmission is in 1st gear which is probably around 5:1 (I can't find an exact gear chart so not sure) So now the...
Great use of the air control panel on the passengers side, really nice looking setup. One question: Has a passenger ever accidentally kicked the heck out of it, and if so how did it hold up?
I've read all the power steering posts and definitely want to add power steering to my M35A2. I've also read the Winch posts and want to change my stock winch to being driven by hydraulics. So here's my question.
Are there any issues I'm not seeing with running the winch and the power...
FYI if you are unfamiliar with the location of the plug for the brakes it is located on the drivers side inside the frame rail. If this connection is loose or the wires are broken you lose your brake lights but everything else will work. I reconnected a broken wire with a wire nut and it's been...
