Sorry for the late response. After a dark cold night laying in the wet grass in some old BDUs with a flashlight I found the issue (I was driving it at O'dark 30 in the morning about 20 miles to a friends shop) I found that the wire was partially broken so, a quick snip and re wire with wirenut...
I just realized that I never gave a final condition on this so here's my very late update. The splines(think that is the right word) on the inside of the rocker are pretty worn so when the engine was running and vibrating the splined shaft would slip inside it and eventually it would keep...
This question originally came about when my dad's marine deisel engine was professionally rebuilt, ran away, rebuilt again, ran away....I'm about ready to dispose of it with thermite. Anyway, I don't care about the cost more the sure fix. I know you can smother it with the fire extinguisher if...
Before I tried to register my Deuce fall last year I read all of these posts so I was prepared for a long drawn out process, I set aside my whole day and started early at the Anderson SC DMV.
ME: Hi I don't know what I need but I'm trying to register and get a license for a Military vehicle...
Gentlemen,
First off I'm in Baghdad so don't have access to my deuce to check my theories so I'm hoping to get some good numbers. Plan on working on the deuce when I get back in 2011.
My goal is to increase reliability and offroad performance through relocation of sensative equipment. My first...
On mine there isn't a line to line up anyway, if you look at the 1st picture I posted you'll see it has a hole instead of a line. I've taken off the operating lever, the cover, and the split ring as well as the idle and max set screws, problem is that the allen screw that holds the cam on is...
G-Force,
After reading over the TM earlier I was wondering if that was what I'd have to do. Thank you very much for the detailed description/instruction on what should be checked and changed, also thanks for listing the section of the TM in your response, I had downloaded it from the...
The deuce drives fine and has good power and appropriate rpm when I'm driving. it is just at idle when I'm not giving it any gas that it idles/struggles at 400rpm. The Idle Set Screw was at its current position when it was delivered. It arrived with an almost empty tank so it does have a few...
Following another post I submitted about my low idle of 400rpm the suggestion was posted that I adjust the idle set screw, upon attempting to change the setting I realized that the set screw had already been adjusted previously to the point where screwing it in any more failed to accomplish...
Hello all, Getting my new acquisition into working order but am unable to road test because the break lights don't work. I have full running lights, turn signals, emergency flashers, etc. but for an unknown reason no break lights. Before I start tracing all of the wires, is there a fuse box...

Thank you for your help.
Thanks for the help figuring out what everything was. In response to the other question no I'm not IT, I'm an EOD Officer, we're used to very detailed instructions with very precise pictures. I will let everyone know how it turns out after I've adjusted the idle speed.
Just got my Deuce the other day and it runs pretty well while driving, unfortunately it idles at around 400rpm according to the tac (and doesn't like it) vs the 650-800rpm that is specified in the manual so I'm trying to track down the issue, being a guy familiar with carbs my mind races to air...
Thanks for the imput, I was mainly trying to increase the range, and after consideration agree that additional fuel storage will be easier to set up and cheaper than messing with the gears.
About to take ownership of first M35A2, assuming GovLiquidation doesn't screw up my paperwork again, but anyway here is my question. When I get back from Iraq deployment number 2 with some cash in hand I was hoping to increase my MPG. My understanding is that MPG is due to wind resistance and...
Ok, I have to chime in on this, I'm on my 3rd attempt to get a Deuce. First Auction won was back in March 2009 and the EUC was denied because they couldn't verify address. It was an issue with my HOR vs living at family farm, whatever, my fault called directly to the DRMO people who handle the...
I tried USAA but they wouldn't insure a vehicle over 10,000lbs. I'll try one of the others listed, however I'd be cautious about not giving full disclosure, hate to get a low price because they didn't realize it was a Duece and then something happen and not get paid.
Hey found a place that makes exactly what is needed, in different sizes and methods of operations, manual, hydraulic, electric, etc. Now just need to verify the intake size. I'm planning on putting it between the air filter box and the engine. Here's the website for all those interested...
I've been thinking that if a butterfly valve was installed between the mushroom and the air filter or between the air filter and the intake, you could hook up a simple pull cable to close the intake off and not waste time getting out of the cab. Simply run the pull cable through the firewall and...
I've just purchased my first 1970 AM General Deuce, YEA!!!! Here's the question:
I've been around a run away marine diesel before and its somewhat scary, has anyone ever heard of a runaway multi-fuel and has anyone ever considered installing a large valve on the air intake that can be operated...
