Solved: How to decouple pump from front winch on M936A2 wrecker?

As long as someone with actual experience can confirm that this will come apart, I'll get that bitch apart. I just don't want to wedge screwdrivers and prybars and 'break' it apart, only to find out that I was supposed to remove some cover and push on a pin to release something or other.

Solved: How to decouple pump from front winch on M936A2 wrecker?

On A1s per TM 9-2320-272-34P-2 , there is a sleeve and pin on the coupler part, but on A2s the coupler is solid and if there is a pin, I don't know how to get to it from the assembly I'm looking at.

Solved: How to decouple pump from front winch on M936A2 wrecker?

I'm trying to remove the front winch on my M936A2. How do I separate the pump from the winch? There are 2 sets of bolts. One from the pump to the coupler and 2nd from the coupler to the winch. I've removed both and I can spin each part but can't separate them. What am I missing? TM...

He said he checked it and that part was clean and dry.

    Front winch removal and teardown

Yup. If you look at the TM I posted, it has a very, very nice breakdown and part numbers to boot. I need to look at it again, but at first glance, it looked like the powered and non-powered sides listed different seal numbers.

    Front winch removal and teardown

Took just a bit of searching, so I figured I'd post here and save the next person a few minutes. I found a good diagram in the 209-2320-272-34P-2 manual. Starting at figure 381. It has nice diagrams and complete parts lists. https://www.xm381.com/TMs_Files/TM%209-2320-272-34P-2.pdf Since I...

    Front winch removal and teardown

Did anyone document (or film) the removal and teardown of the front winch on the M925 or M936A2? Mine is stuck and it's leaking. Doesn't look too terribly hard, but don't want to re-invent the wheel if a video about it is out there.

    M936A2 wrecker tranny needed - Can I use MT654 instead of MT654CR

Thank you! That helps a lot. Can any automotive shop test the TC or do I have to take it to a truck shop? Any rough idea on the cost of the flush/test of TC?

    M936A2 wrecker tranny needed - Can I use MT654 instead of MT654CR

Forgive my ignorance. Why won't this work? Is the 250 bolt pattern different from my 8.3l? The seller is getting his engine modded and will be using a different transmission (13 speed) so my guess is that's why he's letting me have the flexplate as shown in the picture. The plate does have the...

    M936A2 wrecker tranny needed - Can I use MT654 instead of MT654CR

Another question. I know a lot of transmissions will start in 2nd, sometimes 3rd gear. Do you know what gear the regular MT654 (non CR) starts in? I'm reading the manual for the MT654CR and it states that it starts in 1st gear, which makes sense since the wrecker is almost 40,000lbs. It would...

    M936A2 wrecker tranny needed - Can I use MT654 instead of MT654CR

You're asking what transfer case I'm going to use it with? I don't have the part number on hand (away from my truck), but it's a standard '91 M936A2 wrecker. I believe my transmission is bad and a guy in Iowa is selling his because he's upgrading to a 13 speed. I'm just looking to get my...

    M936A2 wrecker tranny needed - Can I use MT654 instead of MT654CR

How can I get that info? Is there a decoder ring on the serial number or data plate?

    M936A2 wrecker tranny needed - Can I use MT654 instead of MT654CR

Guys, we believe that the tranny on new to me '91 wrecker is shot. I have a lead on a fresh takeout out of a 250 truck but since I don't know crap about our trucks, I don't know if I can easily mate it to my 8.3 The donor tranny is a non-close-ratio. I read this post but didn't seem to answer...

Does this help or do you need actual measurements? This is the first pic I came upon in my pic folder.

    NATO Plugs (Alternatives)

They also make dust covers and handles. I've ordered a few. I use the cover in the battery box just to make sure that the connector's terminal doesn't make contact with battery mounting brakcet or it's post. While I have also purchased the handle, I have not had the need to use it -- yet.

I'm using the SB350 with my winch. I like how simple it is to use and I think I paid like $13 for one. Rated at 350amps. I see them a lot on electric forklifts.
