I'm still sorting out all this transfer switch stuff myself, but I thought a generator transfer switch must be rated to handle your line service (which generally is 200 amps around here)--and by code the generator size is almost irrelevant. Please correct me if I am mistaken. I already have a...
Thanks Glockfan...I looked for an internal switch on a friend's 804A model & could not locate it. The external switch was obvious but never found an internal switch. I assume the 804A config would be similar or the same as the 802 & 803A models? If so would you be able to tell me which door...
I'm with Chris on the recycled mat--we use old tire carcasses (retrieved during road trips) and then the treads are cut into rectangles 5 1/2" wide and in lengths as needed to span the mounting bolt patterns. These are placed on top of treated 2x6s that are through-bolted through the trailer...
I know this is an old thread but all my M200A1s have 9x20s on them. My question is will a 10x20 fit on these rims & if so will the side walls be too close to run safely? I learned on my tandem dual gooseneck that you can't use 265/75R16 tires (from my truck) as the side walls will rub and...
Glockfan,
Great job on the MEP installation & many thanks for sharing. I wanted to ask about this generator's voltage switch which the TM seems to imply that single phase 120/240v power is available without having to do wiring mods like the MEP-004A-006A series. Were you able to use the...
Clean the inside as described in many threads on this forum & once you have all the crud removed from the inside surfaces, lightly sand the outside surfaces with a 7" HD grinder/sander with about a 40 grit disc pad. Blow down the surfaces, wipe with acetone & then apply fiberglass resin &...
Go to the TM (Op & Maint] & follow test process for the Start/Run/Stop switch..confirm it passes all checks..as far as I know there is no fuse for the DC side (beyond the 7 amp breaker)..
I know some of this will be repeats of what you've already done but I'll throw out a few basic things and a few questions too. My experience is only with MEP-004A & 005A but I believe these sets general principles are similar to the 006A. You say you've operated the unit but you should confirm...
I noticed an earlier post where you stated your negative opinions about converting these sets to single phase which I chose to ignore. In viewing this one however, you didn't just address the process but went much further to libel a fellow SS member with some downright derogatory remarks. I...
Probably I got the scale way off or something but I'm with Monkeyboyarmy on the HP--I got fooled thinking it was more like an 8 or 10 HP to me...but I see the tank is not the standard 1 gallon size on those engines either...
Since that's a 400hz unit, I suspect the market is pretty slim even it were functioning properly. So, IMHO you have a used B&S engine that you might get $50-75 for. Now if you did a little troubleshooting you could probably get the engine running. If running, I would estimate value at closer...
Don't know about enjoying the punishment--I think that's just part of the "addiction" to getting something working again to serve its original purpose & extend its life....on the wife part, I'm like Sewerzuk--we both have a very understanding wife who puts up with us for often spending time with...
Chris--Yep, this one was an exercise in patience & tenacity trying to methodically go through each component looking for something causing the problem. I had also checked connections everywhere and of course swapped out the KW meter with two different ones to be sure--even swapped out the TWC...
Peter--just to close the loop on this item, the broken ground wire crimp connector was partially making contact while running, thus causing the problem with the KW meter needle swinging wildly. Problem solved. I have a couple videos but they're in MP4 format so I can't post until I get around...
You can always use an M101 for mounting one of them. Is there a reason you need both on the same trailer? (besides the obvious to only have to buy one trailer)... just curious.
Chris,
If you have access to Autocad you could do a few layouts to see what works best. Or do it the old way-- cut out a scaled-down mock-up of the trailer from cardboard & do the same for the two gensets' footprints and start arranging the two pieces.... :) Maybe one sideways & the other...
Chris,
Wouldn't you have to land them "cross-ways" on either side of the fenders--one on the forward area & other in the rear? Though the total weight may be ok in terms of GVW, it seems like the center part of the trailer frame would be under a pretty good bending load. In shipbuilding we...
Peter--Attached photos provided as described. 1st photo shows the wire number P55BB16. The crimped connector for this wire in question was found broken as was the bracket holding the group of 4 capacitors. (These are seen in the 2nd photo.) The 3rd photo shows the broken bracket. 4th photo...
