Mine has black soot on the end of the tail pipe and smells like someone spilled a cup of diesel fuel on startup or after a run when idiling ...It is so noticable compared to the others, i thought i had a fuel leak. Also if the wind is just right in a turn you get the super rich smell of raw...
I have a few m998 and one has a similar problem. It is also a little under powered compared to the others. I have read that advancing the timing may solve the problem, but that was not specific to the gm 6.2 engine.
if you look at the pics in the first page of this post (the bar for sale/sold) you will notice the bar has one tab in the center. The single tab is for the old m1025/1026 style turret support. I am doing a truck that uses the style side piece (no roof mounts) in your diagram, but has a smooth...
Not sure what numbers correspond to what on the center piece, but there are at least 2 versions of the outer pieces as well. I have no idea about part numbers for them either.
"I own a very technical business and have to explain to customers what I am charging them for on a daily basis, I do this by using words that they would understand and giving examples instead of trying to show off my immense knowledge on the subject with acronyms that they're no familiar with...
i think once you are approved, the approval should be good for 5 years. Similar to a concealed weapons permit. Sign some papers at pickup, show your approval card, and load. That way you only have to suffer the wait the first time. I would love to buy some more, but dread the wait... This...
if your voltage does not rise when the wait light extinguishes i would think you are not getting power to the glow plugs. Which type of Engine control box do you have? Make sure the connections to it are tight.
you may have other problems...5 sec on the wait light seems short...10 seconds of cranking is a lot with no start. I would check the cold advance ( i have read that you need to cycle the throttle after/while starting to get it to engage on some trucks) also is you volt meter dropping while...
When i tested mine i used a generic multimeter. Having a clip on one lead makes it easier. 1.2 omhs if i remember correctly. Some were 1.7 and some as low as .9. The bad ones were dead (no reading) or real high.
When you turn the start switch to wait does the battery guage drop or does it...
this may not solve your problem, but test your glow plugs...take off the boot to each and test the resistance on each plug. One of my m998s would start in the warm weather, but once it got cold it was a no go. 3 of the 8 plugs were bad. Now it starts instantly. (my wait light was functional)...
