I love my 700r4 conversion...best trans for the 6.2/6.5 hmmwv IMO. Lower first gear is a perfect fit and that shift from 3rd to 4th just sets it free! Every HMMWV owner that has driven mine want to do the conversion. It is a very simple conversion once you have seen it done.
yes it looks like you are missing the original c-pillar. I have noticed that all the GP slant backs that have been sold lately have them removed and another piece is substituted in its place.
I just did a built 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrive on a 94 M998a1 with a 6.2. Check out their website, Chris (the owner) has a CUCV and is familiar with military vehicles. I told him what i was doing and he recommended a 700R4 Level 2 k-case, with a 1600 700r4 heavy duty diesel torque converter...
If you are going to do a hard top, I would recommend one with a turret. They are great for extra ventilation. Hard tops get hot in the summer and for that reason I actually prefer a tan soft top in hot weather. All the aluminum tops are extremely simple in design and require a lot of drilling...
Are you talking about the P R D D 21 indictor/light? orscheln makes the shifter, but i dont think they make the indicator light. (their distributors dont sell it separately anyway). Everyone is out of stock who does sell the indicator/light and the current price is just under 200.00!
Midwest Military Equipment is making an improved version of the plan b door with an even better rivet on X! The thing i don't like about these doors is the window only opens half way. Hard to rest your arm on that, let alone try and escape if needed. It would be nice if someone made a real...
What is the serial number? That is an easy way to figure the original manufacture date. But even if it was originally made in 89, it could have easily been re stamped 1998 during a rebuild. When buying a humvee always look at the vin to figure the original manufacture date, not the date on...
there is a big difference between a 1998 and a 1989, but if it was listed as a m998 no big deal. If it was listed as a m998a2 you really would have been surprised when you looked it over. Lots of differences in a m998, m998a1 and an a2. Let see some pics.
AM General's Humvee C ( a 60,000.00 Humvee without engine or trans), now they are competing with all the surplus HMMWVS. AM General is still in business and making HMMWVS and other vehicles.
The way the HH reads, agreeing that the Humvee is for off-highway use only had a condition precedent: Buyer acknowledges that the Humvee is "not roadworthy".
If the hold harmless said. " item may or may not be roadworthy, regardless it can never be used for on highway use "off road use only", I might agree that signing the hold harmless limits the hmmwv's future use. The hold harmless does not limit it being modified/repaired to be road worthy. If...
There are a lot of companies that are buying surplus hmmwvs and customizing them. I personally love doing the work my self, but if you want it ready to roll, time is money. I love seeing customized hmmwvs.....lets see some pics of your new rig!
