    Towing Safety (Please Read)

That manual said you should cross chains if the chain run was too short for the binder you are using. It will be possible that my chain runs would only be 3-4 feet and the binder takes up 2.5-3 of those, is that too short? What is the advantage of longer runs?

    Towing Safety (Please Read)

Thanks m1010plowboy, This PDF talks about crossing or not crossing for truck movement on page 9 (default is not crossed but explains when crossing should be used) and general trailer loads on page 83 http://www2.tea.army.mil/pubs/nr/deploy/fgpamphlets/Pam_55-20_45.pdf

    Towing Safety (Please Read)

Interesting. I was googling it and found this army doc on cross vs not crossed: http://www2.tea.army.mil/pubs/nr/deploy/transinstruction/Near-vs-Crossed.pdf Which they indicate from a force perspective, not crossed is better. But it doesnt address the sway component. I'll have to experiment a...

Chains as far as safety chains, yes. As far as tie downs, no. Why should the tie downs be crossed (if that is what you meant)?

    Towing Safety (Please Read)

Im about to tow a Ferret with a properly rated hitch, with a properly rated flatbed (with electric brakes) and a F-350 that is rated for the load (GCWR). I'll be using 3/8" chain and binders rated for 9200 lbs on 4 attachment points. This is my first time towing anything this heavy. Outside...

new here, I want a tank

Armyjeeps.net (broker) has several tanks listed that are in the US, that'd save you a lot of hassle. I've imported British stuff and that wasn't too bad, Augdog sounds like the voice of experience on the Eastern European stuff. Have you tried David Wang over at Army Trucks Inc, he looks like...

Trickle charging two batteries in a 24v system (Ferret)

I have the same chargers. I just disconnected the one terminals that are accessible, I figure I will charge that battery with terminals off and the other with terminals on and I think I should be ok as far as any 24v issue going back to the charger if that is even a thing. Thanks everyone...

Trickle charging two batteries in a 24v system (Ferret)

So I could use two chargers with the terminals on? Someone on another board said you would "back feed 24v into the chargers" if I left the terminals on. Getting to the terminals on one of the batteries is an issue thus this question. I can still get a connector from the trickle charger on it...

Trickle charging two batteries in a 24v system (Ferret)

I have a Ferret with 2 12v batteries, the batteries are currently dead and one is relatively inaccessible (plus I have thrown my back out and I really can't do the things necessary to get the battery out). Would it be possible to trickle charge the two 12v batteries in place with the terminals...

    Operation Lion Claws XI

I missed it, The Ferret was overheating and I didnt feel right bringing it. I've since got it back into shape, unfortunate timing.

Help with getting a Ferret wheel cylinder back in

There are adjusters for the drum on the other side of the hub but behind thebackplate the only thing there are the two bolts holding onthe tappet housing. I tried setting the adjusters all the way out but the tappets didnt budge. Im thinking they are "sticky" and would like to get them pressed...

Help with getting a Ferret wheel cylinder back in

Let me start off by saying, if it is not painfully obvious, I am mechanically inept. I have a Ferret whose wheel cylinder was frozen, I've taken it apart and got it cleaned up and now put back together. I need to get the brake tappets / actuators spread open a bit to get the wheel cylinder...

List your reason behind your MV

I always enjoyed military history and honoring those who served. As a kid, I always wanted a Sherman Tank. As I grew older and realized the I live in the city and a Sherman wasn't the best choice I went looking for alternatives. I wanted wheels (because of city livin), armor (gotta have armor...

Who does a lot of shipping? 2 MVs from S. CA to UT

I just got a Ferret shipped for $1 a mile using uship.com (I think your shipment would cost more than that, easily) . Just open up an account and get bids, if you are flexible on pickup and dropoff time your bids will be lower.

Anyone ever vinyl wrapped a MV?

I ordered a test set of 60 " x 12" for 17 bucks, I dont think I'd need more than 10 rolls for the item in question, so the cost isn't that bad. I think the issue would be whether it lifted the matte paint when I removed it. Since the stuff is made to be put on a clear coated car I would think...

Anyone ever vinyl wrapped a MV?

I have a MV that needs to be "not tan" for a few days and I was thinking of vinyl wrapping it. Has anyone done so and were you able to get the adhesive off your paint at the end of it? Here is a view of the use of the product im thinking about: Amazon.com: 3M Scotchprint Wrap Film 1080 Series...

    Who has Ferret Parts?

Marcus Glen advertises carb gaskets, some periscopers and a fuel pump rebuild kit, if you're willing to wait for shipment from England. If you want it sooner but more expensive, I have the Khaki Imports parts list and they say they have the same. Most periscopes, except the gunner are pretty...
