"This camper looks like a total dump!"
This camper was designed to get teenagers out of bed in the morning.
Modeled after Optimus Snooze in the (imaginary) movie franchise.
This helps keep the camper shell totally level when parking nosedown on a mountain road.
I better stop.....
I think we all go through stages of MV ownership. It always makes me laugh when someone comments on the "size" of the 2 1/2 ton. It is all relative.
A drawback of the Deuce is that the bed is big enough to overload the truck. People are notoriously bad at math. When the book and design specs...
Might be wrong to ask in the thread, but where are we at with replacement injector lines? Still available from the usual suspects or better off going to a Diesel injection shop and have them made?
It seems that, although the steel ferrules are available, generally the success rate of cutting...
You do not mention hard starting and low power, so I assume the injection timing is correct and not 180 degrees out.
Simple things first - what do the fuel filters look like? New primary and secondaries and then re-assess. Yes, the filters can really cause super annoying running and idling...
It could be the lines/fittings. Taking them off, gently cleaning the "mushrooms" with emery cloth, cleaning the seats and replacing/retorquing the lines is a good step one. The lines are torqued to 25 ft lbs max. The center plug could also be leaking, giving the impression of line leaks...
An M35A2 in low range is a terrific vehicle to teach someone how to drive manual transmission. Loud enough to hear what the engine and drive train are doing, enough torque to essentially never stall (and put off the trainee!) and slow enough to be able to concentrate on running five gears...
Most definitely NOT. You do the best you can, like we all do.
Our trucks have ways to kick our butts. That is what they do. It makes us better at troubleshooting and inventing work-arounds!
@biscuitwhistler37 My comment about the dyno was tongue-in-cheek! However, here is what a 200 hp multifuel sounds like! :)
My LDS just after the refresh (new rings, new mains and rod bearings, new heads and valve trains)
I think you need to get the Deuce dyno-tested to sort out the 4hp - 134hp - 167hp mystery! ;-)
There is a chance it makes a full 80hp at the wheels!
It is a good surprise to find out that they dropped a late production multi into the truck. Have you checked the transmission, too? Maybe it was a...
The full seat may be a bit optimistic for the Deuce cabin size but if it fits, your posterior will thank you. I used a civilian air ride base with a military seat (Humvee) on top of it.
You can see it here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/air-ride-seat-installed.170676/
Don't talk about...
No hanger bearing on your truck, Haifisch, your driveshafts are too short. Plenty of places for metal-on-metal rubbing sounds, from the hood not having the leather strips in front so it rests on the metal grille, engine side panels not having the rubber stops and chafing and rattling as a...
People are People and that guy with the 5ton apparently really needed your batteries, badly. I hope your new ones will last a long time and the ones in the 5ton might go dead anytime....

I would say that road-tripping a Deuce on 9.00-20 requires a special form of self-hate. I have done it and really appreciate the taller 11.00R20. You'd think it is not "much of a difference", but, yes, it is! I highly recommend doing what the military ended up doing with many of the Deuces, and...
What @HDN said ! There are likely layers and layers of paint on those threads. It still is a good workout for a 3/4 impact wrench. I also recommend new 20 inch o-rings and coating them in vaseline or white grease before installing. It is frustrating to put it all together, tire and all, only...
Methinks that, if the engine started fine beforehand and the HH was not messed with, it is unlikely that, all of a sudden, the HH is no longer producing enough pressure. I think "HH wear" is a bit of a red herring at this point. If there is no crud in the set screw seat I don't know if I would...
