    Straight pipe on a NHC-250

You forgot the chrome lugnut caps.............oh, and the dual glasspacks.

    Straight pipe on a NHC-250

I'd jack it up and put some big mudders on it too.....

    Straight pipe on a NHC-250

ROFLMAO!!!! Are you gonna make it loud?

    Seriously, kerosene heater under hood?

If no electricity and portability are your requirements, I'd say a catalyst LP heater like the Mr Heater Heat Buddy thing might be the best bet. At least there isn't any open flame in the sense of an exposed one, they are pretty clean, and fairly efficient too. One under the hood and one in...

    Straight pipe on a NHC-250

Bring your earplugs along......N/A diesels are LOUD without mufflers.

    Dual Glasspacks

Let me offer a little piece of advice to you: take it or leave it as you choose. At a young age I spent a lot of time around mufflerless, or poorly muffled bikes, cars, trucks and other assorted and sundry gas and diesel powered things. Now at over 40, I cannot hear very well. All of that is...

    5 Hours and $35.

Good point, my 5HP 2 stage 80 gallon compressor will still run pretty steadily when sanding a long time with the DA.

to hone or not to hone

As far as "honing" I think that the term should be cleaning really. The only time I would "hone" with a ridgid type stone setup, is if there were significant pitting or rust on the surface of the bore to warrant refinishing the surface. Then though, there is the risk of oversizing the bore...

    Fuel Tank Pump

Not only that, but those plastic screw in fittings that come with them will break off if they are subjected to any vibration. Those things are junk in my opinion.

    5 Hours and $35.

DA is a dual action sander. It is both orbital and circular in motion when using it. Most auto parts stores sell some version of them.

    Adding a Winch

Got a couple I'll sell you on e-bay..........

    No pressure multi-fuel injection system

Oooops! Knew that (only way I can tell at a glance along with the long fender opening) just wasn't thinkin!

    Adding a Winch

Talkin' about a CUCV here......didn't put PTO winches on them.

    "Starts and Runs"?

"Starts and runs" leaves a lot of open area. It may have no clutch, no driveshafts, no gears in the diffs, no fluids in it, wrong fluids in it, missing parts, etc. Or it may be just fine. I'd go have a look prior to pickup just to save some grief. On the other hand, you may just get lucky...

    Adding a Winch

If you go with a winch, I'd avoid a receiever hitch type if you plan on using it much. That is just my experience and opinion, but here's why: First, they don't like anything but a straight pull. No off to the sides pulling at all, unless you use a double receiver, but then you need one on the...

    Fuel injected or carburated?

    X10..........

    No pressure multi-fuel injection system

I'd move up the line, cracking fittings until I got to one that had no flow. Check to be sure the fuel line under the front frame rail isn't crushed shut from taking a whack off road.

    "Can I use your phone?"

Thanks for helping out someone in need! It could be anyone of us on the need end of a bit of help at some point. I will generally help anyone out without expectation of anything in return and it has always repaid me with help whenever I needed it most. Sadly, I did have a bad experience...

    Bee in my Bonnet

I agree with Devilman, just judging from what you've said so far, it sounds like the parts of the harness you can't see may be as bad or worse, plus there had to be a cause for this fire. I'd definitely put off driving/inspecting until its fixed correctly. Nothing more fun than driving down...

Overheating (I know its been posted before, Sorry!)

Definitely sounds like it had a stuck t-stat that caused it to puke antifreeze out and all over under the hood. After refilling and running it, then rechecking the level have you had to add anymore coolant? I'd still do a new thermostat and fresh antifreeze anyway as a precaution.
