MV of the Month - August 2019

What the heck....even though I don't stand a chance against the others already posted, they're far nicer than anything I have. M931A2 bringing my 1989 Freightliner FLD-120 to our new home in Utah:

Air wont build up bleeds off thru intake

When that happened to my M931A2 right after I bought it from GL it turned out to be the interlock cylinder on the transfer case...the large air piston was rusted in place, and the air dryer was badly in need of a rebuild (letting moisture pass through). Simp5782 is the one to closely follow his...

    Cutting an M105 bed?

You could cut it and insert the tire carrier assembly, but after time I fear that the additional flexing from removing crucial support structure would cause cracking of the bed itself. Of course it all depends on so many variables that other members have pointed out and have documented in other...

    Correct Rifle

If it's a USMC truck, then M16A2s were issued starting around 1985-ish in combat arms units...reserve units followed a year later IIRC. I initially qualified with an M16A1, then in 1986 was issued an M16A2. Your family of truck was used by USMC units well into Desert Storm and beyond, so an...

    Resurrecting an M108

If that's the breather/vent coming off of the valve covers on the engine, only the fuel tank vent line should be connected to it...DO NOT connect vent lines from the master cylinder nor AirPak to this breather! There was a printed publication that came out saying that the engine/fuel/oil fumes...

Wheel adapters beveled on wrong side

Just take them to a shop that works on big rig wheels, they can use a Budd bevel tool to get what you need.

Wheel conversion from military lock ring to conventional

Accuride made 6-hole Budd tubeless radial 1-piece 22.5" wheels for the military (fuel trailers, IIRC) that have been coming out of surplus sales (GP) once in a while for a few years now. They are the dually-style, NOT the single-style like the M105A3 trailers had. These would allow one to run...

Initial shake down trip of a new-to-me XM818

Or a quick spring-over-axle flip.... So is this the new traveling home for the 98G family? Giving the Jeep a rest from towing? [thumbzup]

    M35a2 WIRE HARNESS

Around the time this thread was active, I tried to salvage my Deuce's wiring harness but it was too dry-rotted...so I bought one from Erik's. It fit perfectly & is still working flawlessly. Worth every penny.

    7 ton purchase advice

From what I was told, as long as the truck won’t be used for commercial purposes, your regular Utah DL should cover it (as long as it’s for non-commercial use only).

    Jeepsinker's M35A2 6BT Cummins swap ( pics and videos)

It helped settle down vibrations in my 2001 24-valve as well...the Fluid Damper really is worth it.

    11R20 dual question

IIRC, the 11R20 Michelin XLs are somewhat still available, unlike the "super single" XL tires we are used to seeing on 5-tons (14.00 & 16.00 sizes usually), that are old and unreliable, especially when sitting flat for any period of time which will damage the sidewalls. I remember when the...

    GovPlanet Pick Up Las Vegas

From I-15 North, exit EAST (right) onto Cheyenne. At Pecos, make a left to go NORTH on Pecos; at Gowan, turn left to go WEST. At Bay Lake Trail, turn right (NORTH) and it is the second warehouse from Gowan. Go to the ramp by the mouse cursor in the satellite view pic, and the check-in office...

    GovPlanet Pick Up Las Vegas

Civilian warehouse, just north of Community College on Cheyenne/Pecos. Check in at office by roll-up doors near middle of building on south side, they'll tell you where to go from there. Don't bother with the front office on north side, there's never anyone inside to help you. Go to south...
