Converting a regular bed to drop side

Have a look at this...someone already thought about it. https://www.steelsoldiers.com//threads/m35a2-conversion.35015/ Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

    M35a2 deuce headlights

It seems the jw speaker lights, heated, are the gold standard. I, too had bad experiences with Trucklite and it may be that the design or quality itself is sub par or that unscrupulous vendors sell batches of lights made for but rejected by the military. I decided to keep more of my money...

    M35A2 Transmission Fluid Change

I have seen 85W140 recommended for the axles to reduce the likelihood of leaks. I am not sure it would be great in the Spicer transmission when the temperatures dip. The manufacturer of said transmission recommended 30 or 40 weight engine oil which translates well to 80/90 gear oil. I do not...

    M35A2 runaway problem

You can't know until you check. A new OEM head with valves is still available and a lot cheaper than a new motor. If you just need a new valve, I got some clean spares. Pushrods and tappets are readily available.

    M35A2 runaway problem

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/upload/M35/TM9-2910-226-34.pdf Pages 1-18 and1-21 have the drawings for the governor. I suspect that the engine can overspeed if the fuel control rod is incorrectly installed and won't move. As for the dead hole: Not saying you ought to do it that way, but I put on...

Air leak from transmission area, brake pedal like concrete

As for the air pressure activated brake light switch, the NAPA run-of-the-mill cheapies work fine as well. You may have to make two short connector cables because the civilian switches tend to have two clamps only, but that's about it. Opening pressure is about 6 psi on the air switch. Thread is...

Proper slobber tube /Road Draft Tube routing?

I route mine over and behind the front axle. The reasoning is that I want to keep the hose away from the spinning top loader pinion yoke, don't want the top of the axle slobbered on and don't want to see the hose from the front. I used a corrugated 1in discharge hose for a sump pump. Sent from...

What would you charge for a steering gear and spring pack replacement?

Please keep us updated on how this plays out. Fortunately, MV accidents are rare and it helps other members to see what happens when it happens. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

No brake pedal pressure after bleeding brakes.

Not sure what exactly you are asking. The hydraulic pressure in the master cylinder that you operate with your foot is used to both activate an air valve in the air hydraulic "air pack" that then assists in moving the hydraulic slave brake cylinder of the air pack AND the MC hydraulic pressure...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Stared at the coolant dripping..no, running, from the rad support and disappearing in the sand. Maybe one of the rad solder repairs finally gave out. Maybe a hose. I have a spare radiator. Maybe time to replace it....I will find out. WHY DID I HAVE TO SAY OUT LOUD TO MY WIFE ONLY YESTERDAY THAT...

What would you charge for a steering gear and spring pack replacement?

Glad you are ok and nobody got hurt. That's probably the most important part. As for the steel soldier combat casualty: What you do not see, yet, without disassembly is what else took a hit. Steering knuckle? Pitman arm? Front axle shaft on this side (if the axle shaft got knocked, is the...

    Turn signal switch rebuild

Funny, that - the original turn signal switch on my truck did that. I opened it up and it had some blackening of contacts and otherwise looked healthy. I am not the world's greatest electrician and so I just checked and cleaned everything, re-assembled it and it never worked again. Nada...

    trailer air brake operation

Fleetmech. it's one of these things I had never really thought about, so thanks for bringing it up! Turns out, at least the Deuce is consistent! If the hydraulic side fails, one's sphincter will grab the seat cushion really tightly. Imagine having this happen while pulling a 10,000 lbs air brake...

My 1971 Am General m109a3 RV build

May I ask what your reasoning is for keeping the 9.00-20 tire size? I have had them on my truck originally, driven it long distance that way and I would never go back after changing to 11.00R20 size. The lower rpm alone are worth it for me. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk
