    small road trip

Cool. The 318 is a great engine. I've had a few. One in my 72 charger( I wish I still had that one) and an old Volare station wagon that also had a 3 speed manual transmission. Always ran great. good luck.

    Road Tip from Hell!!!

Route 78 ins't much better. I find it much better to be on the road on off traffic hours. The votex of air coming off of tractor trailers is sometimes pretty extreme. It can get your heart racing and make your knuckles white.

    Towing M1008 WITH M1009

I have towed 1008 with a 1009. As long as you use a military tow bar or one just as strong, fill the tires, remove drive shaft, and drive slower than traffic it should be ok. I also towed one with a toyota 2wd pick up once. It tracked ok. It was real fun braking. It may aso help if you let...

    Road Tip from Hell!!!

Thanks for the support. Ol' Murphy is always riding shotgun with me. My last tour in Iraq our callsign was MURPHY. I like to think that this last episode will only make me stronger. I had a similar event a few months ago on the same interstate. Coming back form Chambersburg. I even bought...

    And the problems never end...

RE: Vibration. Yeah, sounds like U-joint/s. Be aware that if they are original u-joints you will have to heat up the driveshaft end to get the polymer out. A bench vise is helpful as well but not mandatory. Do you have an auto shop at school? Ask someone there. they may help for free...

Picture of M1009 fuse panel ?

Heres a pic I took from a 1985 that I purchased a few years ago. It was this way when I purchsed it so don't take the fuses as being correct. I don't know if this is what you wanted. You said picture. I hope it helps

    Road Tip from Hell!!!

RE: Road Tip from heck!!! You are telling me. The thought of rolling did hit my mind as I was trying to steer towards the ditch but as luck would have it I only jackknifed 2 or 3 times on my way around. I even managed to check the rear view mirrors too!!!

    Road Tip from Hell!!!

I woke up at 6am yesterday, out the door by 630, drove down to Mechanicsburg by 1130. Looked over the 1009 not too bad, tires were a little low on air and a little dry rotted but no worse than normal. i was on the road by 1200ish. My plan was to drive up 2 exits and stop for a little fuel and...

    Overpriced CUCV's in Northeast?

I Have seen the prices go up on GL over the last 1 year. Then all of the DMV stuff, and sprucing up. Then there is the time I have to put in them. 4-5k is not too bad if it is already road worthy and has a clear title. I keep an eye on e-bay and it never amazes me on what some go for. My...

    Invoice versuses Bill-of-sale

You have to ask for a bill of sale. I had to get GL to send bill of sales for NY. Call and ask for one. I'm sure they will either fax/ e-mail it to you.

best kind of batteries to use?

I agree with Michael. I'd check the alternator belts, connections too. Try rotating the batteries. We ussed to do this on our Annual services. Swap the front to the rear. It seemed that the rear batteries would burn out before the front ones if we didn't rotate. Good luck

Another M1009 lead... should I bother?

If you buy through Government Liquidation 2k is ok. but remember that titleing and any other work costs money. I just bought an 84 through GL for 1400. + fee 10%, +tax. + SF 97 fee + title fee. + the gas it took to pick it up. I still have to put another 4-500 into it to get it roadworthy...

    starter and injector pump source

I just bought 12 Ips for 6.2l HMMVs. From what Ive been told and seen from looking at them side by side with CUCV pumps only difference is the fuel cutoff (24 volts) just swap old fuel cutoff from your IP on to new pump.. But you can check elsewhere. Check pics out . I'm letting them go for...

    Banks SidewinderTurbo

I talked with a salesman on the phone from Banks. they price matched Jegs which was the cheapest I could find $2,396-. The kit comes complete with exhaust(3"), turbo,& hardware. We are gonna have to do some fabrication on the rear battery/ tray. May have to move it because the air box looks...

    Banks SidewinderTurbo

We started the Banks kit last night. I found a M1009 with 17,000 miles and absolutely no rust. Banks claimes 60 hp, 115 lb ft torque and a substantial fuel economy increase. I'll take a copious amount of pics and keep everyone posted. Here are the before pics.

    Crappy Day in a HMMWV

Back in 05 we got 4 stuck past the frames in one yard. it turns out the canals were leaking under the ground and formed a 1 foot thick dry layer. 12,000 lb up armored HMMVs were ok until they broke the wheels free. Then they sank quick. I got stuck trying to pull 2 others out. We ended up...
