    Exploding M1009 spare

I was driving down the highway last year when the entire tread blew off my left rear tire. still had air in it. Scared the heck out of me. I was traveling at 70+ in the fast lane too. I changed the tire out and Charlie Miked.

    am i dreaming??

Yes you can. 2 of the 3 that I have now have/ had almost no rust to speak of. Between southern vehicles and Ziebarting they have been pretty good rust wise,. The 3rd one I have had quite a bit of rust which was cut out and new panels were welded in. I replaced the inner fender wells and...

Wait a minute, is that what I think it is???

Ditto! It looks like the compressor is on the drivers side as well. I saw a kit for sale online a little over a year ago where the compressor was on the passenger side. This will not work with my Banks Turbo, but D/S!! Not that can happen.

    Whats the diff? CUCV, CUTV

Honestly I don't recall how I first heard of it pronounced CUT-V, maybe in 63B Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic school at Ft. Jackson. To be honest I was young and 13 weeks of training we learned nomenclatures, acronyms, and out and out slang! They were always refered to as "CUT-Vs'" M151s were...

I had to get a tranferable registration in Poughkeepsie DMV and used Geico insurance. It was pretty cheap, but I'm 0ver 40 too. Good luck.

    Grinding Transfer Case

That snap ring goes on the end of the axel shaft. You may need to pull it out a hair. Check an exploded view picture or diagram if you have one or go online Its usually a bit of a pain to get that clip on. At least I have trouble 70% of the time I do them.

    got hubs?

I replaced an 85's from the knuckle out myself. Found most of the parts in a pick and pull junk yard. The ball joint press made thing much easier. I used a cutting torch to cut everything off. pressed the ball joints in and was on the road again in a short time. make sure you get...

    My new truck

I had the belt thing happen to me on one of my 1009s. It seems the alternator would lock up and seize, throw the belt then work fine. You might want to take the belt off and spin the alt. pulley to see if it spins freely.

    pintel hitch question

I've bought a few from Tractor Supply. They fit on 1009, 1008, and contact truck too. Just check the pintel rating to make sure you do not pick up one rated for too low a weight. They may be less expensive but they also do not hold as much weight.
