What did you do to your deuce this week?

fpchief, that does not look like a parts truck. That looks like something that, when cleaned up and running, yields enough $$ for three parts trucks. Good on you for towing it home!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

That looks really interesting! You mean, you will get to keep ALL your fillings when you hit a pot hole with that suspension?

    M35A2 No battery power

Yes, both on solenoid. Good safety pointer, davidb.

Re-torquing the "new style" multifuel head gasket

I can attest that the correctly torqued newest-style gasket definitely needed a retorque after the initial hours of running. I was surprised by how "off" some of the nuts were. I would recommend a retorque.

    M35A2 No battery power

You can turn her over by jumping the starter solenoid and battery +. The good old making sparks with a big a** screwdriver method. No in tank pump though, so she may have a hard time getting fuel after sitting for a long long time. If she fires up, she will run and drive without any electrics...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Still hauling sandbags and supplies during the flood. Day 7 today. Went through water up to the hubs today...but new silicone boots, new axle seals etc. should be ok. I will check once the mess is over. A few interesting things...oil burn of about 2 quarts in the first two days. No...

    Coolant pressure?

Yes. Mine definitely does that. I was paranoid and put an exhaust gas probe on it at the local garage (sniff the "gas" coming out when you open the cap; if it is exhaust gas there is a head gasket leak). Nada. Just coolant pressure. Mine also has not read the TM and dislikes coolant being filled...

    m35a2c camper conversion

Hey, the price appears to have been right! The shorter box gives you 2ft of ledge at the end of the box which is cool to step out and then onto a ladder. You can even do a generator box on that ledge and storage for fuel etc. Not sure about the above-cab area, simply because of structural (you...

Time to get some issues under control

Wow...supposed to go to 'nam and instead being forgotten in a warehouse for at least 15 years! If the frame is straight and the axle tubes are, too (I suppose), I would consider getting the spring packs redone. A competent shop can set them up as you need, with fresh U-bolts. You are in the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Working my truck for four straight days now.... So far managed to not submerge above the hubs..close, though. Burning about 3/4 of a tank of diesel per day, needed 2 quarts of engine oil this morning, running fine, no fuss, no issues (other than the darn wiper blade on the civvy conversion...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My area is facing severe flooding. Queen Lola was at work, hauling sand bags today. A front loader can deliver about 100 bags, a loader about 250 and Lola carries 500+. Monday the river will crest. My basement is getting wet as we speak but I am much better off than many others in the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

The gun mount is great for holding drink cups, too!

    Quad Cab

Nice. My only suggestion is to not have an isolated spot of colour that is surrounded by green on all sides. Black touches brown touches green. Green does not get to flow around any colour on all sides. However, it is your truck and you do what you like!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I picked up Queen Lola from storage today. She had been sitting for 6 months and I did not start her up once this winter (a first; time did not permit). Battery disconnect on, accessory switch on, instant strong buzzer. Start button; 3 second crank and she fired right up. I took her on an 80...

    multi fuel years and models

Yes, they are. Also many LDS engine parts fit on the LDT. Heads are interchangeable. Intake valve train is upgraded on the LDS and fits the LDT. You can run LDS pistons and rings in an LDT if you swap the whole set. It is good to know the differences to be able to get what you need. Also, you...

    Problem after new HH installation

You need to check/adjust it once installed. To quote Floridianson in an older post: "the pump gear has three bolts and three slots and one bolt in the center. When installing the pump you leave the three bolts loose and the gear showing the slots to the right or counterclock wise. With the...

    Quad Cab

This is going to be a beautiful truck. Says the guy who is not a fan at all of the cutting and bobbing that is going on. Yours looks like it came like this from the factory and that makes it very, very cool.

    Turn signal problem

You want to read this thread: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?134679-M-series-flasher-relay-civvy-conversion-how-to The military flasher units were clearly manufactured by the cheapest bidder. After three replacements I built my own, with a spare relay in the box just in case, and...

    LDT 465 Connecting Rod Failure

You can - look in through your rearmost oil drain hole and see which rod bolts you have. Ideally with one of those sneaky snaky camera thingies, rather than risk splattering engine oil all over your cornea. Safety glasses... - order Connecting Rod Bolt Hercules PART #: HC40-1091706 The...
